Not bad fic but it resorts to stupids cliches like the Sandaime unable to do anything for Naruto. He just had to send some ANBU to visit the matron in the middle of the night, torture and scare her a little and tell her that from that time she would be on constant surveillance and that if she doesn't treat Naruto right next time she just won't wake up.

Personally I believe the big crater in place of Kohona is exactly what they deserved. People who saw the child abusers and did nothing are as bad as the actual abusers.

I love your subtlety and attention to detail with gracefully coherent exposition. And the ending with Pain's invasion that integrated everything together and succinctly demonstrated the enormity of a trivial decision really moves me. Great story and the reason I have an expressed fondness toward well-written one-shots.
