This story is quite something. "Joker finds out he has a daughter." that summary sounds like absolute garbage, like the kind of fluff people would write to romanticize their favorite villain and completely dilute their character, but not this. This story does the source material justice.

This story really gets Batman The Animated Series and its characters, its tone and the kind of stories it and the greater DCAU would want to tell. This legitimately feels like a part of that, like something Bruce Timm and Paul Dini would come up with if they wanted to explore Joker's character. Nothing more to say really, I think this is the best Batman The Animated Series fanfic I've ever read.

I think this story is GREAT

Trolling through this site again for some Joker stories I hadn't read before. Found this short little gem and it truly moved me. Is it bad that I read it in one sitting until 4am and the last couple of chapters brought tears to my eyes? I love the 'Jeannie' backstory that could have been in 'The Killing Joke', and I love your take of it too. You wove the different versions perfectly and the inclusion of a living child - Jackie - was actually the perfect touch. I'm only sad that it had to end. Great job!

I LOVE this story. This was the story that inspired me to come up with my own story based in the animated series. {I haven't wrote it yet but...} this was the stepping stone I needed. PeekabooFang you are great, and I am not just saying that. You are one of my favorite authors. {I only have three favorite authors, so you have to be good.} Anyways, sorry for rambling; I tend to do that. Have you ever thought about a sequel? ;)

again, I find your treatment of the characters loyal to their origins but also fitting to these new events. I can tell you actually devoted time to thinking: "how would this character react if this or that happened?" I love the incorporated backstory for Joker as well as all the references to other batman storylines (i'm glad Robin escaped the crowbar this time).

Nice. Use of laughter and stuff. Joker's head plausible. Don't like what Bruce said to Jackie; defines her way too much in terms of her dad. She and Talia could start a club.

Jackanapes was a good rather choice, actually. I always thought Harley got a good villain name despite the fact that Harlequin is a male role. Pierrot just doesn't have the zing.

Lordy lou. Okay. Okay. You know, on one level I can't believe Bruce endangered his family by giving them an official connection with Jackie like that. But on the other, he does stupid things like that a lot.

Well, that answers that. Go tough old lady. Plasticine woman, is Jeannie. What now?

Okay, I knew who Jackie was going to turn out to be, but how the hell did she wind up having her mitt? Jack never knew she'd been born. Can't have done. Wouldn't have given her up. And I can barely imagine Hammet bothering with the orphanage, let alone leaving her anything. Weird. Weird.

How did BRUCE find out? He's never known who the Joker was. How could he possibly trace the Joker to Kerr to Jackie the foundling?

Inquiring minds want to know. Which means you've set up a good scenario, natch. (I disliked some of the syrupy dialogue in flashbacks; it hit suspension-breaking levels a couple of times. No other complaints.)

Okay, so I was off a tad, NOW I've read the whole story. Still... Blew me away, just like the 13 other chapters. I am in serious envy of your writing skills. Perhaps I could learn a thing or two from you. I would never dare to be so bold as to try to actually come up with my origin for the Joker and expect it to come out GOOD, but you did that and so much more. You have my endless respect for that alone.

I just read the whole story, and I'm VERY impressed. You've done well on writing Joker. Most people don't get him right, but you got him right. I've personally never been a big fan of the whole "this story is about Joker's kid" idea, but you did it PERFECTLY. I loved how you incorporated Mask Of The Phantasm and The Killing Joke, and how you had a tiny bit of everything here and there from Death In The Family to Batman '89. This would have been great to actually see on the show, should it's more violent content have been permitted. Congratulations on such a great story.
