Eric Michael Kline chapter 1 . 4/23 A much more satisfying ending than the canon which was nothing short of a huge middle finger right in the audience's face. |
AdmiralAtvar chapter 1 . 10/15/2018 I now consider this canon |
Q-A the Authoress chapter 1 . 11/6/2016 Yeah, I would rather this had been the ending too. Keep on Writin' and Rockin' |
Raigat chapter 1 . 12/18/2014 I agree. To me there was no way to justify the ending. It was a complete worst case scenario. I seriously don't believe anything else could have went wrong. Killed off half the characters, Nia dies, and Simon basically gives up on life(can't blame him). WHY? I could accept a bittersweet ending, but what they did? No. Just no. I'm eternally grateful to you and writers like you that believe things should have went differently and have done something about it. Thank you and great job. |
SheWhoLeavesCrappyReviews chapter 1 . 4/29/2014 I just finished watching this show and like many (well at least I think so), I'm upset with how it ended. Now if only I could delete my memories of the last episode and insert this one instead. Seriously, Simon really deserved happiness and he freaking deserved to be with Nia. Considering the countless times they defied logic and the laws of the universe in the show, they definitely could have pulled something like this off and no one would scream bullshit. I feel like I was cheated by this series somehow. |
mark-engels chapter 1 . 1/1/2013 Simon and Nia are one of my all time favorite anime couples, and I go back in the fandom to the mid-80s. The ending of Gurren Lagann worked me up more than any other series. I liked very much the way you rendered this. Like several other reviewers, I fully agree that this could well fit in to the canon. It's a fine piece, and wanted to give you kudos for same. Thanks for sharing and thanks for doing right by Simon and Nia. MJE |
Story Weaver1 chapter 1 . 6/18/2011 This is much more in line with the rest of the series. In fact, the whole 'hibernate and data transmition' thing sounds like what Lordgenome said beastmen did. Well written, makes sense, and is fluffy SimonNia; I'm pretending this is canon. |
Xhydralisk chapter 1 . 12/13/2010 This is how the series ended. Screw canon! WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM! |
Thaeonblade chapter 1 . 12/6/2010 Why wasn't this somehow the original ending? They never even completely explain why Nia died when the Anti-Spirals did! Then again, this from the same bastards who wrote Evangelion so you shouldn't be surprised that they decide to be bastards and rob the main character of a satisfying happy ending? I mean, at least Evangelion is honest about being the Lord of Depressing Anime! Nia's death is just one of the ways Gurren Lagann just really messes with us in an unepic way! Kittan, I could understand; and maybe Kamina, but NIA! Gainax are all heartless sons of %*&(s! |
Penny Smiles chapter 1 . 11/17/2010 It's tecnically the same nia, just a clone of her. It's like losing a broken toy abmnd buying the exact same one. But it will never be the same one that you originally had. |
4master chapter 1 . 10/8/2010 Good one ! |
The Great Butler chapter 1 . 8/15/2010 I agree. I nearly shed tears when I watched the last scenes of Gurren Lagann, because Simon had been through so much and finally won his prize only to lose it almost immediately. It only got worse with the epilogue revealing that he was left to become a nameless wanderer with nothing but Boota and his drill spear to remind him of his past. As for your fix-fic of it, I think you really pulled it off well. Everything flows naturally in tune with canon, and honestly, this is a perfectly believable redo of the story. I can easily see this happening in the actual canon. That is the most impressive part. |
Rise Against713 chapter 1 . 8/10/2010 Great story. I totally agree that the ending was way too depressing. I mean seriously? Couldn't one of the three main characters have a damn happy ending? |
Mrs. Know-It-All chapter 1 . 6/27/2010 I wish you had written the last episode! This DID make me feel a little better after the trauma of the ending. Literally my every thought during the wedding: *Nia walks down the aisle* 'Aaaaaaw! I'm so happy for them! As of now, SimonxNia are officially one of my most favorite anime couples eveeer! She's so pretty! Hmmm I love Simon's hair like that. Yay! Finally, Simon and Nia get there happy ending- ! *shock, tears, silent kicking and screaming, and hate-comments on YouTube follow* But you helped _ Awesome onexshot! |
Artemis Fowl the Second chapter 1 . 6/23/2010 I know what you mean; Code Geass was written and animated amazingly. In Gurren Lagann, though, it doesn't turn out well; after all, this is Simon, the boy who started out as timid and fragile. He first lost Kamina who was the only one who really held him together, and Nia came into his life and helped him get past that. Now he loses her, too? It seems too cruel, especially how she disappeared RIGHT at the moment they were finally married. There is no way Simon was at terms with that like it portrayed him; he must've been torn, even if he didn't show it as the leader of Team Dai-Gurren. On a second note, thank you for writing this; just like it helped you, it helped me, too! :) |
