That would have been so useful. So, so useful. She made a decent CMO, but she still wasn’t an actual doctor. Having equipment would go a ways to help with that disparity in experience. Granted, by the end of it, she might well be. Certainly got lots of field practice.

It's wonderfully written and I very much hope there will be a follow-up. The way she feels about Young is also very realistic, even though Young seems a bit to one-dimensional.

Quite an interesting take on TJ. I like that she goes to medical school via comm-stones. Although, I believe that Young would not be as upset about her training time as is indicated. Most commanding officers expect their service members to train.

The pairing with Rush is interesting, although, I think a bit precipitous. Rush is grieving so much from his wife's death that I don't think he would be ready for a relationship.

I also think it is unlikely that Rush would type a manuscript. His scientific nature, his energy and drive would find it too mundane, repetitive and not a good use of his time, even for someone he loves.

That said, I think he would do as you said: create/rebuild/repair machines and devices for her as his way of showing off or strutting his stuff. You devised this so well; cleverly designed and creatively told. Well done.

If Rush were capable of moving as fast as you have him advancing, given his stage of grief, I could easily see that showing off his scientific advancements for her would be his stallion-dance.

The other insightful aspect is that you saw this pairing at all. I wouldn't have seen it, but it definitely could work. TJ is a nurturer. Rush definitely needs nurturing. He is very high maintenance.

TJ is also prone to not value her own worth as highly as she ought-as seen in the relationship with Young. Rush would probably ignore her, forget she was there and omit the important dates, etc. She is the type to endure it and coddle him. I wouldn't have put them together but see that you have recognized their natural association. Well done.

The "hugs" TJ gives Rush seem out of place. She is very military as she has told Chloe in no uncertain terms. "It's what we do." I can't see her feeling comfortable wearing the uniform and hugging someone publicly. Privately, maybe, but not in a public access room.

I liked the part where you included more dialog. It moved the story well. TJ's thoughts at the start could also become dialog-she could speak with her escort, or talk to herself.

Again, it is a great idea to add all the medical training issues the way you have. The pairing is interesting and very credible. It could be expanded to take a little more time for the relationship to develop, given Rush's grief as well as TJ's bad experience with Young.

It's a great start. Hope you will continue to advance the relationship and story. :)

This was a lovely fic :) I liked the emotions, the tension and your creativity in writing the ancient medical device. I liked the ending, though I felt that it should have one paragraph more :)

Lovely story - loved the interaction between TJ and Rush. I am not a huge fan of the show, but found this pairing in fanfiction and have really come to like it.

awesomeness (as always!) :) loving this pairing, the round-about dance you have between them, the way they react to each other, and the things he does for her, like applying for her training, fixing the machines and copying her textbook. for such an incredible genius, he does come across as socially inept, so i guess the best (only?) way he can express his feelings for someone is to do things worthwhile for that person. it's very sweet and, i guess, very gentle. in fairness (looking from an outsiders POV) i think Eli does have potential, but he needs to seriously mature, grown some balls, and learn to think for himself
