Irayo! What a beautiful rendition of this absolutely splendid moment in Jake and Neytiri's relationship! You captured the worry in Neytiri's heart so well, she thought he would be out of reach and unobtainable! But Jake, like all of us (Males) who witnessed the movie, would have ran through burning coals to get the reward at the end (Neytiri's heart), I know I would have. Here is a Princess after all with the soul of an angel, the body of an Amazonian Athlete, and the love and dedication to her family, her clan, and her God (Eywa), what a girl, plus she loved the idiot!

Why would Jake even consider giving her a miss, he'd be a definite Skxawng, she was his soul mate and he knew it!

Therefore it was written in Eywa folklore, he was the Omaticaya princess's mate, and no one was to ever break that rule. When love knocks at anyone's heart, never deny or ignore it, you will die a slow death, all for ignoring the very need everyone has in their life, the need for their soul mate, be they Na'vi or human.

RC your story is tender and certainly expands Neytiri's thoughts - but what of Jake's? If you rework this, I suggest that you go back in time to the first time Jake takes a header off his first Pa'li. Neytiri laughed at him, but did she offer a gentle hand up? Was there the growth of an unspoken code between them based upon little smiles and facial quirks? I think Jame and Neytiri would likely have been fighting to keep their hands off each other by the time of the initiation ceremony. Neytiri would have been suffering during the rite until Mo'at assigned her to complete the initiation. Her heart would have leapt to her throat when she suddenly realized she had one last chance to be alone with Jakesully, and her legs would shake as she climbed up to where Jake stood with Mo'at. Neytiri would be terrified that Jake would read her anxiety - and maybe her purpose - in her eyes, so she would have fought not to look directly at him. Finally, after a strong start of the initiation completion words '... make your bow from wood of Hometree..." she choked out her suggestions about Ni'nat and the sleek huntress fearful that Jake would interpret her words as a rejection. But when their eyes finally meet, there is a golden explosion of emotion when Jake says "..but she must also choose me.." Then she knows and her happiness drives her straight over the edge into his arms. Still, I wonder how a woman trained as the next Tsahik can so easily embrace a uniltìrantokxavatar? Haven't her friends all warned her? What about her terrible memory of seeing her sister Sylwanin killed by Skypeople? Is the appearance of an Atkorina so enormously important? Wel;l, your story is really well planned and I wouldn't have such strong ideas if the story hadn't made me think really hard!

You accomplished your goal of staying true to the film but making this story your own. It was lovely, truly. It was very touching the way Neytiri was agonizing over this (I liked the line "All she ever did was insult him and whack him over the head." I remember in the movie how she smacked him when he couldn't get the wording right, so good tie-in) and it turned out the guy is as crazy over her as she is over him.
