You write very nicely. It is a pleasure reading something that I am not stumbling over the mistakes while trying to read. However, I still do not understand why the woman shot her gun. Nice touch with Henry actually belonging to Columbo.

I admit to being shocked that this woman would bring a gun to a family setting, especially with so many children present. Despite the pain that Johnny suffered, it looks as if his being shot is going to help solve a crime.

This family makes the Addams Family seem like Ozzie and Harriet. "That's not ketchup." Uh-oh.

Excellent story! I loved the Columbo appearance. I think it qualifies as a full fledged crossover. I think you could put this into the crossover categories.

I take it that the gun was hidden in the barbecue when it went off?

Poor Chet, losing Henry must hurt. I agree that you need to come up with a replacement mascot. They can't depend on animals just showing up out of nowhere. :-)

That was great, and very realistic because as I said in the last chapter, it doesn't matter what size a gun or bullet is. It's the luck of the draw so to speak, or un-luck in Gage's case. Great story and thanks so much for sharing it.

It's funny about the size of guns and bullets. In fact, there are more deaths and injuries from 22 calibers than any other gun and that's a smaller bullet than typically used for hunting or other uses. Unfortunately people forget that any projectile entering the body, no matter how small can kill or maim for life, even a pellet from a BB gun. One bad entry, like through an eye or fluke shot can and has killed. You made a really good point about this type of thing in this chapter so well done there. I can totally see Johnny being scared to have surgery again. I'm glad Roy's there. Off to read more. Great job.
