Not-Quite-Old Man chapter 29 . 7/25 Sitting here and reading this from start to finish... there is so much and so little to say at the same time. The relationship between Jin and Zuko had so many moments where it was so tooth achingly sweet, and moments where it tasted like a bitter pill. Moments where it is so light hearted and full of brevity, and others where the air felt startlingly still that if anything pushed too hard, something would have given way. When Jin first recieved her title, and when the symbol was revealed, I knew that she wasn't returning. After Jin's denial of Zuko the first time and how much power and responsibility meant to her, it was then that I figured out that the love was going to be more bitter than sweet. Then seeing all of Zuko's preparations and his hope (and desparation) of making their relationship work, and then with the reveal of who she is at the end makes it so heartbreaking Even in victory the main characters still lose. I am not saying that it is a bad thing, yet I'm not saying it is a good thing either. Thing is, despite how heartachingly lovable their relationship is, feelings change and so do people. Years of ruling a nation and making tough decisions would likely mold them into people they don't recognize. Even with them trying to make it work, they won't always be able to. Aang may not care that the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom are getting so buddy-buddy because the two leaders are in love, but, others may not see it that way and in that direction lies conflict. Realistically, they would be forced to do one of two things: Unite, or separate. Zuko could easily do both because he is the sole ruler of the Fire Nation. Jin couldn't because she is only a part of the Earth Kingdom. This only gives them the choice of retiring, or breaking up. Either way it is a tragedy in the making and those stories are always depressing in the worst way... One question I do have however, at the end, why is her mother still in the lowest parts? Is there a line somewhere I missed or what? Regardless, it is a excellent story that is both a romance story with power plays and a bitter tragedy in the making. For some reason, even though this is a great story, as a reader, I'm left feeling unsatisfied at the end... |
Prince Pondincherry chapter 27 . 6/2 Calling the Fire Nation the losers seems kind of inaccurate. Sure, their final push was defeated and Ba Sing Se was retaken, but so what? They still had a huge army. |
Prince Pondincherry chapter 25 . 6/2 The combination of the vague "our glorious new monarch," the way Jin talked like she was in charge of replacing the Dai Li, and the way people listened to her last chapter convinced me that she was going to be the new Earth Queen. |
Prince Pondincherry chapter 24 . 6/2 Oh no, life didn't change. You know, because EVERY EARTHBENDER IN THE CITY didn't have their lives change or anything. |
Prince Pondincherry chapter 22 . 6/2 Oh good. Jin realizes it's still abuse even though she's a girl. (She's definitely nowhere near as bad as her father, of course.) |
Prince Pondincherry chapter 13 . 6/2 I'm surprised Long Feng doesn't just move against "Lee" directly if he has reason to think he wants to kill him. It's not like there's any reason not to. |
garden galaxy chapter 1 . 5/27 Jin x zuko is cute .so is uncle iroh trying to hook them up |
Guest chapter 29 . 5/21 Very polarizing reviews on this one. The complaints are valid, zuko has very little exposition and jin goes from scholar to rebel badass veeery quickly. But it also had great moments and this kinda ruined other jin x zuko fanfic's for me, now I keep waiting for jin to reluctently execute someone. Ignore the fact that I don't have many other compliments, just know that this is GOOD. It's not top ten of any competition but it's good. |
DBNY94 chapter 12 . 4/4 This fic skips an incredible amount of detail. So much so, that it's boring and emotionless. Jin switches from poor college student to rebel leader in literally paragraphs. You barely write anything about how Zuko is reacting to what's going on... I feel absolutely no connection to any of the characters at all. |
DBNY94 chapter 10 . 4/4 This is the cliff notes version of a great fic... too bad you didnt bother to actually write that great fic. |
Dropbox1999 chapter 29 . 7/2/2019 I've never loved and hated a beautiful story such as this masterpiece. I've craved a Zuko and Jin story such as this for so long. I'm a romantic at heart and just love happy endings but this one is something I love because of the bittersweet ending. It makes it something that I will love to hate and hate to love for a long time. |
FeelthePainofPropane chapter 29 . 6/22/2019 Fantastic story! I love these two together. I like to think that the former Earth King comes back and served as a member of the government. Then after a clue of years, Him abdicates the throne back to him so she and Zuko can be together. |
MisterMead chapter 29 . 11/3/2018 I’ve had an absolute blast reading this story, and I tore through it all in one evening. I just adored your take on Jin, and in my mind I just can’t imagine her differently any more. Your characterization of canon characters was spot on -sourpuss fire lord Zuko in particular! - and the understated humor had me bust out laughing throughout. I was always something of a jinko shipper before, but this story has really cemented the pairing for me. I’m so grateful you wrote this and shared it with us, you should be proud of what you’ve made here. Thank you! |
Spartan10007 chapter 29 . 9/11/2018 Awww. Good ending; and God I loved this story. It’s really good. Jin and Zuko arguing was funny, and the fluff was so fluffy. Again I loved the story. It was so good. Until next time |
SonicNinja chapter 29 . 8/13/2018 this was a pretty good story but I think it had 2 problems, 1 is minor but the other is kinda on the edge. the first problem is you switch between using Zuko and Lee and the second is I think that if this was to happen and Zuko was to stay in Ba Sing Se and not help Azula catch the Avatar the plot would have been completely different. I guess you didn't want to change the plot of the show too much. it's just I think having Zuko not there to fight the Avatar with Azula(I'm assuming he didn't help her because it doesn't mention it and he stays in Ba Sing Se) would have changed the plot of season three by a lot. But these don't really matter seeing as the fan fiction is still really good. In the end, nice job 9/10 P.S: oh yeah another problem is sometimes it does time skips and doesn't really give any info and one part will mention Zuko just got back from a trip then suddenly they just had sex or something llike taht. |
