Guest chapter 21 . 8/18 Just found this and it's a masterpiece! I love it and I need to know what happens! Also, hell yeah to the smut (I think I might be a little older than some - but not in a weird way, I promise) as other people mentioned, it's perfectly fine for their age and the time period. Expected, even. I would totally be down for this! Hope you are doing well and everyone else on here is ok! Love from Australia xx |
Guest chapter 21 . 5/3 I would really love to see the story progress I read it years ago and came back on a whim. I enjoyed the way you continued the story, especially since the show was abandoned. I think I would just like to receive some closure regarding the world and the two characters, even if it's as simple as them returning to the kingdom as friends or Gunther receiving healing. Anyway, thank you for your work and I hope you are safe in this pandemic. |
Guest chapter 21 . 4/17/2019 Please tell me that you're alive, I want more of this story! It's such a well written plot... Bring on the smut, It's normal for their age and century. |
Guest chapter 21 . 12/28/2018 Something reminded me of Jane and the Dragon the other day and I was like, “oh yea, that show existed!” Then, I wondered if there were any other oddballs who had shipped Gunther and Jane like me. The internet did not disappoint. I found this story and instantly became hooked. I hope you finish it someday, although I know how tough it can be trying to complete an old fanfic (girl, really, I do). From one writer to another, I encourage you to continue writing in whatever way makes you happy (even if that means not finishing this story)! |
TheSecondBestBed chapter 15 . 7/5/2018 WOW. What a chapter. Really it's incredibly written; I feel as if I've read versions of this before but not with this much raw emotion and power behind it. There's so much that's starting to uncover here that I would've never really expected yet it was handled so perfectly. Jester's apology was so genuine, it really showed that he was just a good guy who made a terrible mistake but he does care deeply for Jane. Jane and Gunther's confrontation was both scary and exciting and the description of the swords hitting each other was wonderfully eerie. His words at the end definitely left an impact on me. This was possibly one of the best things I've ever read. |
TheSecondBestBed chapter 14 . 7/4/2018 AH. Poor Jane! Good for her for knocking Gunther right on the jaw though! She should've given one to Jester too for good measure. Luckily Dragon's there to be a real friend to her because those two boys are rather disappointing. |
TheSecondBestBed chapter 13 . 7/4/2018 Jane is very relatable here in all the wrong ways LOL I got second hand embarrassment and possibly remembered several humiliating moments myself OTL (hang in there!) I don't often see JATD stories that take place in the wintertime but it's always a rather beautiful scene to imagine, especially with Jane's red hair. There was some vivid imagery here that was amazing, especially pertaining to Gunther. The little discussions between him and Jane about courting and kissing seems incredibly in character despite the intimate topics and just so endearing too! I was like JUST KISS ALREAD YOU FOOLSBUT if what Pepper said is true then she shouldn't kiss Gunther or Jester unless it's with her fist! I can't believe that turn of events! I hope it's a misunderstanding but...mmm. |
TheSecondBestBed chapter 12 . 7/4/2018 AH. I don't know why I keep stopping this story and picking it back up? I think I'm a bit scared to finish it, like finishing up a good book and worrying that you won't find anything as good afterward. But here I am again and this is another amazing chapter! The relationship between Jane and Gunther is only getting better and better! You're really playing this slow burn wonderfully because the tension when both are in the same area is tangible. I love that they can still insult each other without it being too mean but they aren't so friendly that it's unbelievable or boring. Jester's poem, wellthe fact that he tried to make Jane choose someone, gave me ultimate cringe LOL. But good try Jester, very creative at least! That last bit with Jane and Gunther dancing was MAGIC. Just about the dreamiest thing I've ever read. |
Guest chapter 21 . 6/28/2018 I'm so happy to see that the story has been updated; I remember reading this back in 2010 and 2012 when I was dying for new chapters. I'm glad to see that you've continued it - your writing style and pacing is something to be commended. The development of Jane and Gunther's relationship is paced to incredibly well and stays true to their characters that it gives me even more joy to read. I can't wait for the next update! To answer the question posted at the bottom of the chapter, I'd say yes given that it's realistic. If you were to write it I would have no worries because as seen with this story, you can easily keep them in character while delivering a great story :) |
Guest chapter 21 . 4/3/2018 I love your writing, and to answer the question at the end of this chapter, I feel like there is a fine line for sure. I think some slightly reckless romance would be interesting to read, but nothing that the characters wouldn’t do as they were written in the original series. I find that when fanfiction writers try to make the characters do things that are too modern and flashy, it takes away from the story rather than adding to it because it ends up being things the characters would simply never do, even when they are old enouguh. Anyway, I absolutely love your work and I cannot wait for your next update! I’ve been following this story for a really long time but have not posted a review simply because I don’t typically do that for any story. But I felt maybe you could be waiting for responses to your question before continuing, and I want to do whatever I can to ecourage you to continue writing. As for the direction you might be taking this story, I trust you to make it interesting but not too raunchy, because you don’t seem like the type of person who would get too carried away with that. Thank you for all the obvious hard work and energy you have put into this story, it has been a delight to read so far! I am definitely invested in the characters, as much (if not more so) than in the original TV show. |
Kitten chapter 21 . 1/24/2018 Aaaaahhhhh you are back again! Gunther must be saved! The excitement continues! When they wereturn reminiscing about earlier points in the story , I was so immersed, that I truly felt the passage of time and how quickly they had grown up in such a small window. I love it. Incredible writing as always. I feel like I'm right there in the forest with them. Without blatantly describing it, you make me see every detail of their faces and their world. |
Guest chapter 21 . 1/4/2018 Omg Gunther is on the verge of death. I'm siked to read how he's gonna get through this. Poor guy. Hehe But yaaaas. Some lovemaking sounds great. :D |
Kyra4 chapter 1 . 1/3/2018 I don't want to contribute to a potential fracas (she says immediately before opening her big fat mouth and plowing in) but I will just say that I hope you won't let a single nay-sayer derail something that would be really happily received by the majority. I personally hold the belief that oysters are THOROUGHLY disgusting. I think they look like snot - that really thick, gloopy, slimy sick-snot, you know what I mean. I think they feel like snot. I think they taste like snot. (NOT that I eat snot but if you've ever had a bad cold, come on, you know you know what snot tastes like.) The one time I tried to eat one, it triggered a literal physical gag-reaction in me. I do not care for them AT ALL. But that doesn't mean I go around asking restaurants not to serve them. I wouldn't even try to dissuade a friend from ordering them if that was what she wanted. I simply choose not to partake. TO EACH THEIR OWN. SimIlarly, I think if you just do your due diligence, people can make their own informed decision about what they would, and would not, care to read. Publish under the appropriate rating, add an author's note right at the beginning clearly stating the content, and age them up to at least the legal minimum age of consent (despite the fact that they are make believe people in make believe circumstances) and let the readers decide whether it's something they'd like to proceed with or not. Anyone who objects to said content has EVERY RIGHT IN THE WORLD TO NOT READ IT. That's just my $0.02 for what it's worth :) |
Barb chapter 21 . 1/2/2018 Personally, I enjoy a good holey act. I vote smut. |
Guest chapter 1 . 1/2/2018 I am an adult, and while I do not NEED to know the particulars - I sure do enjoy reading them anyway. Write the smut! |
