I guess it's a little to late to really review to make a difference or more likely enlighten you of my opinion... ... ... But whatever, here it goes.

Alright, so I can tell that I first thought this would be a completely AU, with a completely different plot. Then, well rather soon, I realised it's kinda based on the Mai Hime manga. But with the differens of the words "hime" and "key" which I'm completely fine with. In fact I kinda like how it is with "Immortals" and "mortals" and how they seem to have the same purpose as a hime and her key. Anyway. The second thing I thought would have been different was Natsuki's... ways. I got the feeling in the summary she would be a real bad ass. Not just acting. But again I'm not disappointed. She obviously had a rough life with criminal activities going on for quite a while but still was rather perhaps not friendly but... hmm what's the word... 'looking into the best of the innocent" in lack of better words and phrases. I like they way you portrayed her. Her attitude still there but certainly have softer side as well. The biggest difference between the manga and your story, (except from the plot itself) would be that Sizuru has a role more similar to the one in anime. I kinda like it. Though she obviously have something more directly to do with The First District. The two of them together is quite cute I must say and I like it.

Also, Natsuki's mother... alive, a difference. I do wonder what role she really have in this and not to speak of in Natsuki's life. Her influence on her child seem to be... hmm... not in the child's best interest, sort to speak. But it's a shame we don't get to know more about that part consider the background that our favourite raven-haired friend seem to have. well I could probably dig deeper look into details. But I don't want to bore you out so I leave it at this. I'm happy to say the story is or was, depending on if things are left as they are, an enjoyment to read and I don't regret spending time on it.

Good chapter. Like the light comedy at the end. Fave part of this chapter was:

(Never had the gunslinger had the opportunity to doze off in the yard, her life requiring her to be constantly vigilant, but she let herself slip for the first time. 'Shizuru would never let anything happen to me.')

(The naginata-wielding Immortal found herself hoping Natsuki would back down at the words, for the idea of Natsuki getting hurt scared the life from her. )

With a statement like this I *honestly* don't understand why Shizuru instead of just *telling* Natsuki all the info she eventually *did* reveal when she rescued her, allowed the obvious 'love of her life' to risk said life by being shot at, hunted down, and almost killed, for info as I previously mentioned, she ended up spilling to her anyway right after. I just...don't get it. Why would Shizuru risk Natsuki's life for something that she could have easily just *told* her in the first place?

I've *highly* enjoyed this story so far, and I honestly don't mind 'info' chapters as they are necessary to a story. I just didn't get what Shizuru could possibly have been thinking to purposely put Natsuki at such risk for info she could have told her in private safety.
