Waywardneko chapter 1 . 1/20/2014 awwwww... Child Fire lordlings hugging is just the most adorable mental image, I can't even... |
electric gurrl chapter 1 . 4/15/2010 This was amazing. I think the word choice was absolutely perfect and the thought in it showed through brilliantly. The scenery/setting/atmosphere was well played and well described without too much description or too little. The second language was good, and I don't have a problem with it, though it's not the same language they tend to use in Avatar as the show is much more Korean influenced. I love, love, loved it though. Fantastic work. Favorited :) |
Dark Angel Of Fire Ice chapter 1 . 12/1/2009 While I like the plot and the way you portrayed the characters very much, I found the excessive use of Japanese somewhat inappropriate. I think that you could have used the same concepts behind Asian culture to better effect without the obvious "This is Japanese" stamp that language creates, especially since the Fire Nation seems more Chinese, Vietnamese, etc, in it's inspiration. |
Passionworks chapter 1 . 11/29/2009 That was breathtaking, breathtaking I tell you. I'm with TrueThinker on this matter: my captivation was also immediate, but I am one that is pleased with this remaining as a oneshot. I felt every character's thought, every emotion, with the powerful dialogue and the very elevated vocabulary you use. The useage of a second language is quite interesting -I usually don't see it done so nicely. I will favorite this. Excellent work. :) |
card castles chapter 1 . 11/28/2009 Quite frankly, I think you should make this a full-length story. I was captivated immediately, and I loved the sly implications and stealthy use of innuendo. Like I said, I would lovelovelove to see more. |
PennyOfTheWild chapter 1 . 11/28/2009 *takes a deep breath* I - I - words have failed me. Was this honestly just a oneshot? It seemed like so much more - I feel like I've read a good-sized book and have only just stepped out of its pages (yes, I stepped into it, at the beginning. How could I not? It compelled me to enter). Your mastery at creating vivid, strong atmospheres is particularly evident throughout this entire piece - I could Smell the incense - See the smoke - Feel the tumultuous emotions ... oh, I hate you. I hate you for writing something so beautiful, because - I could never, ever write anything half as good. Something I must commend you on? The strong sense of Culture you brought to this fic - the amount of effort you put into recreating this world is evident. You reign supreme. '"Shoganai, oniichan," she mutters, turning the honorific into an insult. There is nothing that can be done, she might have said, but you know that what she really means is I have nothing else. "Taihen desu ne, imoutochan." You are trying to sound light, trying to sound playful, but then you whisper a single phrase — and you have never meant it more: "Sasuga."' I loved those lines. Not only do they convey Azula and Zuko's characters beautifully, they give them Depth. Thank you for sharing this. |
