Nice chapter. Only I'm finding that Harry's a bit, well, TOO forgiving. When I was his age, I held onto a grudge until it aged and shrank into a teeny tiny critter much like Tithonus, Eos/Aurora's mortal husband who was given eternal life but not eternal youth. . Yeah...

I like how Harry's meeting up with his sister's friends and caregivers. Nice, polite kid. *nods* And no, I never watched the HP movies. *chuckles*

Huh. Weird. Harry kept separated from Rose. Ms. Figg seemingly to NOT have any monitoring equipment at all. The entire situation as tangled as a skein of yarn after a cat attack. And poor Sirius still in Azkaban. Of course, James wasn't all that sweetness and light even in the books. That one episode where Harry gets a peek at Severus' memories that shows just how much of a jerkwad James Potter could be...

Nicely done. Confusing to this Old Bat, but nice.

As someone who lost far too many loved ones, this was a sad chapter for me. Nicely done, true, yet sad. At least Lily being reunited with James was nice, comforting.

Poor Sirius. He was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. I never did figure out what evidence, if any, was used to put him away. Nice chapter. I'm liking this story of yours as well.

I’m not a fan of the number of Harry scenes in this story. I understand he’s quite young in this early part of the story, but as it stands now I think we’re at only 5% or so of the story has anything actually to do with Harry. Plus your focus rests on Rose so much I wonder if perhaps you should rename the story to Rose Potter and the…

The story has an interesting premise, but there are too many things in this particular story that just either annoy or upset me. I think I’m read enough at this point, it’s just not my type of story.

As I thank all authors of fanfiction for taking the time to write, I thank you for this story.

I find Harry’s quick forgiveness of the Dursley’s to be rather unbelievable. Harry’s age here really works against that. I think he would understand far better that he was essentially abused and mistreated by the Dursley’s rather than understand some outside force influenced them to do it. So Harry missing Dudley? Please…

And on that note, if you want to suggest that the Dursleys abused Harry because of some compulsion James Potter put on that vase…you would have to equate that “curse” to something like the imperious. Otherwise, influence is just that. Rather than being forced they were encouraged and thus much of the abuse and the blame of that abuse Harry suffered under still rests firmly on the Dursley’s shoulders. I really don’t get why you did this and shifted so much of the abuse they doled out. Why disparage James so much? Even if you equate it with a joke. Why write the story to ensure Harry ends up with the Dursley’s via this law you mentioned? Any law on child placement would be absolutely overridden in the case of the parent’s wishes. So you’re honestly suggesting that the Potters who are actively fighting a war didn’t consider who would take care of their child in the event of their deaths? These things do typically read like a list. Even if Sirius was supposed to and unable to take care of Harry they would just go down to the next person on the list. That’s the way it’s done. Unless you’re saying Dumbledore did some underhanded things…but since you’ve tried so hard to make everyone blameless, I somehow doubt that.

Very strange. You’ve really gone out of your way to absolve the Dursleys and Dumbledore of any wrongdoing in Harry’s upbringing. You’ve even somehow put the Dursley’s abuse of Harry squarely on James Potter’s shoulders. I still don’t quite understand the explanation there or rationale there.

You also waited at least 4.5 years in which you kept Harry and his sister apart. I just don’t get that. Harry was practically forgotten for all those years? No one thought to check up on him to ensure he’s all right? Why keep it secret that Rose even had a brother? Again, more stuff that just doesn’t make sense to me.
