Reviews for The Pull
Jonescalypso chapter 1 . 9/25/2013
I enjoyed this a lot. I've definitely never read anything DN related quite like this. Specifically, balancing out the vengeance and consequence perspective. As I was reading it, I kept having flashes to L's older self in canon (the times when he was more serious and less goofy) and it made a lot of sense that he would have this kind of "absence" lingering with him, even as he tried to bring justice to the world. It seems like exactly the kind of thing that would keep driving him to work, even after years of being successful at it; and so making it the number one thing in his life.
It was also refreshing to read about his relationship with his grandmother. That's one detail I rarely ever find for L's early life, and this is by far the best version I've found.

Very interesting and entertaining story :) This is the first of your stories I've read, recommended by a fan of yours. And I look forward to reading more.
Adrainea9876 chapter 1 . 9/3/2013
That was so good it made me tear up! (And that's something cause I'm known as the robot in my family)
Artemst chapter 1 . 9/20/2012
Absolutely beautiful writing. This will definitely be a headcanon for me if anything. The lack of L past prior to Death Note was a large space to be explore and I think you did fantastically well.
May000 chapter 1 . 3/30/2011
Lovely. An interesting insight into what L's true position on the Kira case might be, as well as a nice take on his childhood. The last line is sweet, bitterly so.
Charlie Waffles chapter 1 . 8/20/2010
Wow this story was dark. Oh, and I'm pretty sure in "Death Note: Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases" there was a hint that L's parents had died when he was 8(?) but I'm not entirely sure. C:
Beanheart chapter 1 . 7/10/2010
There are men whom one hates until that moment, when one sees, through a chink in their armour, the sight of something pinned down and in torment.
xFillyStarx chapter 1 . 6/24/2010
That was really ... heartwrenching. Definitely one of the best backstories of L I've read so far. And putting it in second person was a nice touch.
Blind Justice chapter 1 . 12/20/2009
"They're gone, Mama." You stroked her hair. "How do I fix you?"

Ah! *cries*

Why do you write so well? D: That line broke my heart to pieces~
aiushtha chapter 1 . 12/10/2009
This is perhaps one of my favorite Pre-Wammy stories of L. I love that twist at the end. I really didn't expect that, unlike in a lot of young!L stories. Writing it in second person POV is a big plus. It makes us readers feel what the narrator is really feeling.
Italiano Falena chapter 1 . 11/20/2009
I really like this...
Sashocirrione chapter 1 . 11/20/2009
This is very nice. It is more than an L-sees-parents-die fic, because of the twists in it (which I don't really want to say more about so I don't leave review-spoilers for other readers). But I can say these twists really fit L's personality.

Who was the other boy? I suspect B or even possibly A.
