Wow, your writing style is simply superb.
You keep your readers in suspense and confusion and have a few lovely plot twists in the works. A more human Dan is something I always love to see. I like to think no matter how evil whichever Danny becomes he actually would still harbor a soft spot for Sam. Confusion on Sam's part is great. When your characters are in the dark so are your readers making it all the more enjoyable to read!
I love that Sam has some powers and would love to see her connect with them even more, maybe even slightly start to like them. Maybe her powers can have a down-side too like a weakness. Just an idea.
The way you keep Sam's thoughts a bit niave and realistic is fantastic. I really love her sarcasm and remarks. Perfect combination of slight comedy and drama. Genius.
Just another idea, what if Sam used Dan's slight infatuation with her against him. If she made him think she could love him then told him she hated him? Just some food for thought.
Hope to see her form some part of her plan soon and really hope it includes her powers, something she had manipulated Vlad into teaching her.
You've said you have most of this planned out and I really hope you're able to update soon! Just go with your gut and what you think is right!
