Sookie calling Eric a jerk, selfish, etc. (like most versions of Sookie) — Pot, meet Kettle!

This story is a perfect portrayal of Eric & definitely falls high in my top five favorite versions. Protective but predatory. Patient but firm. Funny but authoritative. Totally cocky & searingly hot. This chapter in particular, him being tolerant & persistent even while having his hunt & chase instincts stimulated, but still not losing any of his self-control so that she never gets hurt even while he gives her a taste of how wild & dangerous he can be. Just really well done!

GACK! Sam a fantasy? No way! I can’t ever envision him as anything but a yappy, leg-humping terrier! And why, when there is such a superior alternative?

Sorry, but back to the ‘rules.’ Eric didn’t come to their room until after sunset so creepy Bill should have been fully alert. Why would he not have sensed anything at the start — her shock, pain, arrousal, etc. & come out to check on her? Once she & Eric were deep into it in his room, why would Bill not be more freaked out from feeling Sookie all worked up, but not with him? Again — it’s certainly more fun that he didn’t/couldn’t interfere, but my annoyingly analytical brain keeps snagging on the logic problem.

Now — this is how you write an Eric! Searing! BUT, if it was that far from dawn for all of that to happen (Eric did send her away saying it was ALMOST dawn AFTER having his fun), why wouldn’t icky Bill have felt what was happening through his bond with her & come whining & ranting after her? Not complaining. I like that he didn’t, it just doesn’t fit the ‘rules’ though.
