I adore this story! First of all, it's super realistic which is something that a lot of people (myself included) struggle with. You definitely capture the idea that Alex is just a kid who's seen too much to be a kid. There's the paradox of wanting to be seen as an adult and wanting to be a kid and there's the struggle of being controlled without true, understood explanations from authority figures. And... and just... everything is perfect. You've built on Horowitz's world so seamlessly that this seems like a natural progression and like someone earlier said, I definitely respect your command of the English language. That's my first language and I can't write it as well as you.
Anyways, thank you so incredibly much for taking the time to write this amazing piece and I eagerly await the next chapter!
