Normally I skip over misspelled or incorrectly used words but because this one is used repeatedly in your story I thought I should say something. It's not double gangers it's dopplelgangers. This site will not recognize it as the correct spelling and will mark it as wrong. I looked it up to be sure and found that I had been spelling it wrong too. I thought it was 2 separate words.
