The one good thing about the video is that now Pike has Kodos on camera. They can distribute his photo and not bother the kids about what he looked like.

I wish I didn't know that some of the abuse was based on real life cases. I read as a form of escapism. Glad I skimmed past the medical section that gave the awful details.

I feel like Pike comes across a trifle obsessed when I think what you're aiming for is passionate. Maybe less thought exposition? Actions can speak for themselves.

The captain was wrong to demand no temper tantrums, etc. If Jimmy did have a tantrum, one couldn't handle it with him like they could a non-abused child because they process and react so differently. I hope that demand isn't foreshadowing. (BTW, this isn't nitpicking about how you wrote the captain. It's normal for some adults to be as thoughtless as he was and I don't think it's wrong to write him that way. When I respond directly to the characters like that, it means I'm engaged with them.)

Just here in chapter 18, pike watches a holo where Kodos tortured jimmy and well now pike knows how he looks like, i think he should show Kodos his captain, or not? :)

This fic is incredible. You deal with the horrors of Tarsus very tactfully, and it has a lot of emotional gravitas. I read this all in one day- I could hardly stand to take a break from it- and I have to say it's the best thing I've read in a long time. I love the fluffy bits to death!

Ok, so I kinda blew through this and fell head over heels! This is such a perfect fic! Everything about this is so completely incredible! I've been reading quite a bit of Dad!Pike fics lately and this one? Is like perfect? And like almost everything I could want? Holy fuck, I love your Pike so much! I'm a complete sucker for accidental parents, and protective families, so this just fucks me up in the best possible way! I don't know if you'd ever consider updating this, but I'm in love!

I have read this story several times as I have it bookmarked as one of my favorite fanfics. I can't express how deeply moved I am each time I read it. It's handled very well considering how disturbing the subject matter is. You are a wonderful writer and a brave person by staying strong with the things you've experienced judging by the things included in your authors notes. I hope one day you can complete this because it deserves to be finished. I am, however, glad for what you have written. Thank you for sharing your talent. Best of luck in any future endeavors.

I love this so much. I read it back on 2009 when it was published and only rediscovered it recently, and it is still just as good. Jim has alway been a hero and that is illustrated so well here.
