Just thought I'd drop a little "good job" your way. There are people out there on the forums who are upset that House has shown an out of character heart recently. I think your story explains exactly why he cares and does it in a perfect Housian way. It's especially tough to write a very short story and have it convey everything that needs to be said. Kudos!

now, on to the review proper... once again, brilliant job. however, as far as i know there's no condition to the absolution part. you are told what to do when you leave for penance, and then you're absolved and sent off to do it. i'd imagine going to the cops would be chase's penance, but as i've never killed anyone, i can't be sure. also, it may depend on the priest... anyway, i like the bond of sorts you have between these two; believable and yet not out of character. i can actually see this happening, and considering that it's house... well, it's impressive.
