I loved this story, really well written and very sweet at the end.

Such a great story. I almost didn't notice that the gender wasn't revealed until the end, because it fit in my mind so perfectly with how I'd imagine my Shepard being. I'm glad you picked male though.

I read this story a while ago and was looking for it again. So well I found it. Time to review...

I have to admit that I was kinda confused when you said you wanted to write a story where the gender isn't revealed immediately cause I was imaging a male Shepard from the beginning. Don't know why. Maybe wishful thinking :) It took me a while to realize that it really wasn't mentioned before.

However, I love this pairing. I love Alenko. You portraied him really well. And your Shepard's been authentic. He's not the flawless hero. Saving the galaxy isn't just about glory and honor. It's a dirty job. We all know this ;-)

I like the pacing of your story. It doesn't seem rushed. And the ending was so sweet. They deserve it.

Shepard's identity has certainly got me wondering but that didn't bother me so much as I truly enjoyed this piece to bits. It's a nice take on how Shepard's position is not exactly as privileged as it may sound. The kiss in the end was sweet and wonderful. I love the build up of tension between Shepard and Alenko in this story and how well you handled their resolution. I wish there'd be more for this particular pairing but alas I can only find so few and those that are actually good to read. So thank you for making my day and I hope to read more good mShep/Kaidan fics such as yours. :)

I only read m!shep/kaidan so I am very happy that I was able to guess from the description that this was going to be one such story. You might want to update the story to reflect shepard(M) because right now it is tagged as female. The distinction between male and female shepard is new. I read this before the change took place. And now it makes since as to why there are only 10 or so m!shep/kaidan srtoeies on this site. They must have been tagged incorrectly as well.

Anyway! Very nicely written. To write without using pronouns must have been very difficult, so well done! And I hope you continue to write more m!shep/kaidan stories.

Awesome story, amazing writing style! I love how you kept the reader guessing until the last sentence, and it's only made better by the fact that this story was about Kaidan and MShep, one of my favorite pairings. Love it!

I enjoy the way you breathe life into such a neglected pairing in this fic- Kaidan's character is spot on and your Shepard is admirable.

This is brilliant. I'm replaying the game and I just finished Xawin again last night. I'm really impressed with how you filled out the story around the planet. As for the romance you totally blew me away. I was honestly imagining my female Shepard right until the end.

I loved this! It was so clever in not revealing the gender! I was reading it, preparing to flit away the moment I determined that it was femShepard in the story, and I just kept reading...and reading...and reading...lol. About 2/3rds of the way through I became convinced it was male Shepard by the tenor of the dialogue, but I was still not 100% sure. :)) Loved this. Bravo!
