Hooray. They made it to the Glen and the proposal took place with Kain on bended knee just as I had hoped. I do like that you revealed that Ruka was over her infatuation with Kaname and even kicked up the struggle for Kain a bit to keep his desires reined in and do the gentlemanly thing and ask for not only Ruka's hand in marriage but her parents blessing as well. Funny as I think about it, I suppose her brothers had to give their blessings as well.

Lucky for the two them it sounds like they were able to have a quick marriage so Kain didn't have to wait that long to have Ruka as his wife.

I'm sure it was a surprise to other but it looks like Ruka didn't have that much time of having Kain alone before becoming a mother but you gave us the impression that the future with a family really worked out for them, and how nice their oldest and Aido's child are pretty close in age!

I really give it up to you writing not one, not two, but three intertwined stories over the course of the years. It takes true dedication to take on something like this and though you make it look easy, I can't imagine all the hours poured into making your stories what they came to be. Thanks for completing off the stories of the three couples and you have me wondering if you'll ever take on a series like these stories again. Thanks for sharing!

Ahhhh. I knew it! Only I had thought the meet at the secret glade was coming right after the ring was mentioned. You had bigger and more surprising story plans however, definitely giving more meaning than ever to the proposal (if that's indeed what's going to happen).

I'm glad you were able to give Kain's peace to his struggle and a means to do and follow through with the right thing. I read the author's note and got curious about the reviews/reviewers. ~ You were right, poor Kain was nearly roasted (and Ruka's brothers weren't even around!) But the time allotted for him to come to his own conclusions was essential in bringing him to just the place he needed to be for himself and for Ruka.

I have to say, the environment around them has certainly reflected the moods of these two: wildfire when passion burns and beautiful when love is abloom.

Physically perhaps things externally are less than perfect: Singed hair, ripped garments, and less than clean bodies, but something tells me with what's coming soon, none of that will matter. Thanks for sharing!

I have to say, combining the reflexive animalistic desires with the blood bond really made this feel like a vampire fic. Kain's rough treatment of Ruka and caving into his desires (heart over mind), wasn't what I was expecting but I think that's what made the surprise and the difference between this story and the others really stand out (in a good way.) It moved things past human emotion and put the complexities of being a noble and a vampire together.

Although their outward appearances, duties, and expectations prior to all of this seemed to preen them for upper class, this chapter really highlighted that underneath it all, carnal needs like blood sucking and blood bondage were a true part of who they were. Satisfying such things was all consuming and did not allow for pretty facades, and you really showed how sharply it contrasted against noble mannerisms that seemed to take on a more human likeness.

I really came to feel Kain prided himself on those human niceties and flipping him from vampire mode to gentleman definitely made for quite a chapter. Thanks for sharing!

Oh my goodness. Talk about a heroic scene followed up by one sensual, dramatic act. This was the vampire lust and romance at it's peak in the story for sure. You definitely had Kain playing the gentlemanly, giving, and hopelessly in love vampire up there until the very end, and the fact that being bitten twice makes this a two way bond...magnificent. Oh wow. My heart was pumping in this chapter.

Embarrassed, I'll admit, when Ruka took off her jeans, I was thinking something different would happen, like the fire would ensue and she would be caught running out of the tent without them. (Sort of like the wise advice of never sleep naked, you never know when I fire or emergency will start.) But it was great to see something totally unexpected happened instead.

Heroism showed it's face big time, and I like that Kain and Ruka worked together and made a huge difference, testing Ruka to her limits and for the sake of something near and dear to Kain.

I had secretly giggled about the homage Kain paid to Ruka's hair but now I see why it was mentioned. Goodness, the horror and the worry you left things on made for a dramatic end of the chapter. I can't imagine waiting for the next chapter when you first wrote this. For this I consider myself lucky as there is a follow up just at my fingertips. Thanks for sharing!

I really like the backdrop of this trip. Two nobles camping in the outdoors, experiencing nature and for once living carefree and getting comfortable in doing and saying what they really feel was refreshing.

Exposing their true selves made for a great scene and of course I love that Kain is a true gentleman at heart (it's not just a facade) and the fact that he can cook, well, nervous as he is, I can't see a reason for Ruka to turn him down.

You did a great job here, solidifying just what I was suspecting...thoughts of Kaname are starting to be dismissed by Ruka herself. It was adorable Kain is rising to the challenge of being a proper suitor for Ruka (after the lecture from her brothers) but more than that is concentrating efforts on disclosing his feelings for her and winning her over as the priority. A well bred sheltered vampire like Ruka camping made me conjure all kinds of images.

I'm curious. Blood seems to be a staple for the vampires but is food also essential if there are no fish? Also if there is a two way bite, is that like a marriage of sorts (in terms of bonding yourself to another)? Thanks for sharing.

I don't know why the struggle of inner thought vs. what is said, keeps me interested in what these two will actually say to one another. Alone they tend to shy away from coming outright with what they want to say but slowly you've planted a seed there that there may be hope and there is definitely something blooming between them, so much so that in some ways we've forgotten about her crush on Kaname. This story has Ruka being the more bold one. What a change! How lucky for her Akatsuki is so gentlemanly. I'm sure things could have gone into "M" territory quickly had it been anyone else. It is fun to see it is she who is guiding where their relationship is going and Akatsuki is the more docile (at least for now.) Thanks for sharing!

I'm guessing not all vampires get arouses simply by drawing blood so the depiction here doubles Kain's pain/attraction for his beautiful friend I see.

To be honest, I had to double check what chapter this was. Kain was moving so fast I was like...wait...no...uh yes? Is he really going for...? Oh my gosh, do I need to blink through this? And then... a cool down to reality (and safety), although I imagine a few readers were like...what?

Oh my. I don't know why but I didn't expect that coming. To steal a first kiss and to admit it was his first too. Ruka doesn't read the cues to that but I suppose it's because she doesn't want to. I know she knows there isn't a chance with Kaname but I wonder if the fact that she shared her blood with him can ever be released to find another mate.

I like how Kain took the time to get to know Ruka's wants and needs. Although they've had a friendship for many years, it seems Aido was a part of their threesome and there wasn't much time to find out who the real Ruka wanted to be. Although he may doing it for selfish reasons, there's no doubt that extra step makes him all the more special to Ruka and it's great she notices his efforts and appreciates them for all they're worth.
