I have never seen Light portrayed like this - literally a Knife-Wielding Batshit Insane Guy - but I guess this happens when you miscalculate the amount of pressure you can take, even when you volunteered to be treated like this. It was a possibility that he would snap one day.

The only point where I raised my eyebrows where L's reactions got unrealistic. Light pretty much mutilates him and he only says "Do that again and I will break more than your face, Kira".

Also, no way he would let Light get away with this. He would have a way to prosecute him using one of his false identities, already having the support of authorities worldwide - the ones who were well aware of his "unconventional interrogation tactics" for sure. You even made him say "Your father... will not stop or even question me, nor will any government". He could charge him with attempted murder or frame him as a mentally unstable person and get him locked away for a very long time.

But I guess he isn't entirely normal in this fic either, thinking about the possibility that Light's actions were planned from the start.

As an afterthought that got lost in my own emotional turmoil before I could remember to type it up as part of the review, technically the limb could still be re-attached, with nerves and all, though it may not function as properly as it once had before. If you watched the anime Kaiji, the main character had his ear and fingers re-attached after they had been severed. Also, Light could get surgery to make his jaw function better, to help it heal faster and come back together, and he could also have some teeth re-installed. Either you were too sadistic or dramatic to help them, or this one-shot didn't have enough word space, or perhaps you haven't considered this possibility as of yet. These are the possible reasons I have in mind as to why you haven't mentioned this.

Also, his dad...well, yeah. He places his sense of 'righteousness' and 'justice' first before his family, and I completely agree. But... Sometimes even that feeling he has can be wrong. He needed to help light, but he didn't. It's sad that Light doesn't even have his family to support him. He dug his own grave. Granted, he didn't have enough patience... He snapped. So sad to know that if he had waited a while longer, he would be free from all of this. And now he is indefinitely 'indentured'...would they still work together to find 'Kira'?

I'm going to be mentally scarred with this fic, but it shouldn't matter anymore after all the shit I've read. Great fic, btw. Love it :D

I just voted on the poll - this story should def. continue! I want to see Light's new life :P I hope you write more on this - I loved the concept. I think L should make Light "substitute" his hand. It will be interesting if even though L lost a limb, he still forms an affection to Light as the man is taking care of him (even though it's forced) and begins to feel bad about limiting Light's freedom. Also Light will never get to the death note in case of this scenario, right. I think this story line has a lot of potential.
