I know I shouldn't have laughed at the line "It was bound to happen sometime." But I did. Because I'm missing a soul.

Now, apart from the fact that I'm clearly some kind of sadist or something... I liked this. I think their dialouge was tremendously enjoyable (spelling? I fail.) Also, the title owns my life right now. I want to right something with this title but it really wouldn't work for anything other than this scenario.

I love your one shots. I must say, however, that in this case I may actually love your title even more than the story. Your title is almost poetry...music...art. It would be a great name for a band, or a cd title, or a full book (death note related or not). You have to promise to use this title again for something else!
