Probably only one of two post Angel season 5 stories that I can stand. I like how you developed them both and made all the BS whedon put them through make sense.

Damn! This chapter!

Holy moley, Batman! This story gave me ALL the feels (and kept me up waaaaay past my bedtime). You gave us Buffy & Angel(!), Connor, Faith, Spike and Illyria together after the End of NFA. All these years I've been wondering what happened to our dark haired Champion, his intuitive GrandChilde and the former God King and unbeknownst to me your tale was RIGHT HERE! Firstly, this fic was believable, a true extension of the series; of COURSE W&H would exact an apocalyptic punishment against the vampire who dared to dismantle their eons-evil organization. Your prose was lyrically descriptive without being wordy and the fiction was proofread(!) Secondly, you mastered ALL the character's voices (an incredible feat in itself - some authors get SOME of our faves' speech correct but it's like winning in 'Vegas to read a writer who can make me 'hear' the actors saying his/her words and lose myself in the story. Thirdly, and IMHO most importantly, you KNOW these people. Their personalities: insecurities, fervent hopes & dreams, deepest shames, vulnerabilities, loves, hates, sins, regrets & all. You understand who & what elicits their actions and emotions, what exposes them, what they cower from and who & what opens their hearts. While Angel fittingly grieves for his deceased AI family our fave ensouled vampire realized through your fic that Buffy, Connor, Faith and Spike are his blood family. He'd forfeit his existence in a heartbeat he doesn't possess for each and any one of their lives. Yes, I believe the Dark Avenger would willingly expire for his peroxide-headed, annoying, snarky GrandChilde ...and vice versa. Not just to save the world. Angel's beautiful soul would demand his final sacrifice. Spike's grudging esteem toward his mentor along with his abiding love for Buffy would practically guarantee his demise. I adore this tale because I love these people and you've exposed their (sometimes reluctant) love & care for each other. I've always thought that Faith & Spike would make a superb couple if they could ever find the bravery to drop their baggage and allow the other into their heart, you alluded to this possibility in this fic, so thanks. Also, the fact that you permitted Angel to show Connor how proud he is of and the extent that he treasures his only child was heartwarming. Connor has typically been portrayed as a furious, lost warrior-boychild, you imbued him with confidence as well as the courage & respect to accept his true father's love. HUGE! Buffy's line about loving Spike - just not the way he wants ..was brilliantly honest and needed to be said. Spike has forever known in the deepest recesses of his heart that Buffy belonged with his GrandSire - a bitter pill to swallow given his persistent love for the blonde Slayer; however, your fic granted him the ability to finally step back with dignity. Ideal end to this...if it were ever finished...Angel, Buffy, Connor, living together as a family somewhere. Maybe in a big enough house for Faith and Spike to be there too. Less sure of that part.
