Jael73 chapter 1 . 9/20/2009 Wow. Great scene. Just imagine how many times they've been this close to death! I'd only suggest that Illya swear in Russian - one's native tongue usually comes back when you are hurt. Great job! |
PACTNMMT chapter 1 . 9/16/2009 Very nice! |
Rachel Indeed chapter 1 . 9/15/2009 Lovely story. I like the general image of Section 2 we get, the intimate look at our Golden Boys, and the insight into the subtle vengeance and loyalties of the HQ staff. Nice. |
Jezzworth chapter 1 . 9/15/2009 Thanks for such a wonderful read, short but so very, very sweet, I love the way you write Napoleon and Illya, you get them so right. |
LaH Carabele chapter 1 . 9/11/2009 I really liked this short story. I have to admit I mostly find longer stories more to my taste, but this was just such a great captured moment. How the Section II agents are seen from others inside the organization yet still outside that loop of danger is good fodder for such a "glimpse" narrative. I loved it! The only thing that gave me a bit of pause was the "I'd heard the rumors" bit suggesting the two men of being generally suspected as lovers by the rest of the organization. I thought that totally unnecessary in this context. Friendship that deep doesn't need to be hinted at including sex. It's a wonderful thing all on its own, and having a deep friendship fully appreciated as such with no sexual overtones creeping into the mix is something I think is often missed in various stories. (And from a personal viewpoint, I don't think that in the 60s, considering the profession of the two men, most people would have viewed or speculated about the relationship between Napoleon and Illya being one of a sexual nature.) |
EVRyderWriter chapter 1 . 9/10/2009 Oh CRAP, that's freakin' squee material! Love it! ...no, more than love it, adore it! |
Auntie Minerva chapter 1 . 9/10/2009 .."my arms full of wonderfully hard Russian delight." Now *that* is a well-turned phrase! A gem like this is a reminder that we don't need all the extraneous garbage that clutters up so many stories - just the well-thought out, well-written, well-structured realization of the characters who are so dear to us - *that* makes for great fan-fiction. You are the best! I bow to the master! |
callherbabylon chapter 1 . 9/10/2009 Aw, this was just unspeakably gorgeous! |
Mary Catherine Marshall chapter 1 . 9/9/2009 Brilliant, Uncle Charlie! Thanks for giving us another grand tale about 'the boys' ... |
FallenInTheWetTypeWater chapter 1 . 9/9/2009 I remember reading this on LiveJournal and loving every moment of it. I can think of at least 3 people who would love to be in Rose's shoes - including one called Jack... |
SeaStarr chapter 1 . 9/9/2009 I really enjoyed this story! I've read an number of your other MFU stories posted on FanFic and really appreciate your writing style and understanding of the characters. (I'm a big MFU and Dr Who fan). I look forward to reading more of your work in the future! (And good luck to your son on broadway! - my husband is a working actor and I know how hard that is.) |
m klindt chapter 1 . 9/9/2009 Great job as always! |
Lothithil chapter 1 . 9/9/2009 I really love this. A lot. Thanks, Charlie -Loth |
ShakNali chapter 1 . 9/9/2009 My oh my! (fanning self) This was very well done. I could picture the scene as I read it, and, being a secretary myself (let alone a breathing female), I could definitely identify with Rose! I especially like your descriptions of "Section Two guys" and of the women's reactions to them. Just have to wonder - were the flowers from one partner or both..? Thanks for sharing this one! |
