Something I don't get, why was she allowed to tell vernon about magic in the first place? Witches and wizards aren't even allowed allowed to tell their spouses that they're magical until they have a kid together. Neither couple has a kid, and yet she was allowed to tell vernon that her sister is a witch.

I think this would have made for a lovely story instead of just a list. Don't get me wrong, I really, REALLY enjoyed this. It'd be far more interesting to read as separate novellas. The first one taking place between chapters one and two of the first book and then the rest taking place during Harry's summer holidays away from Hogwarts. The last one would probably take place as the Dursleys leave their home to go into hiding and during Harry's first few months on the run. Just a thought.

A very insightful story. You made Petunia a lot more sympathetic than she was in canon without completely glorifying her or her behaviour. Good job!

I love the way you explained the reason that she made Dudley hate Harry, because she saw Lily and herself in them... that never occurred to me, and it really is a great idea.

Umm, wow. I'm sure this probably isn't what JK had in mind when she wrote Petunia, but wow, nonetheless. It's certainly a very different slant on Petunia, and I'm sure I'll never think of her characer the same way again. It makes me feel a little sad for her. It's great.
