65th-latitude chapter 7 . 11/12/2012
Excellent story. I liked the descriptions of desert scenery; it was a nice departure from the usual cliche conifer forest.

I love how Rodney and John show their friendship in this! The whole story is great. Long chapters and everything! Keep writing wonderful stories.
hajimebassaidai chapter 7 . 4/19/2010
A good story with an interesting structure and one heck of a prologue: just enough that the reader knows who has been found but precious little else. There is plenty of tension but nothing is over done and they all stay in character. Brilliant story!
karonkgb chapter 7 . 1/18/2010
I enjoyed your story of fragile souls and fragile minds. Rodney DID save the day, and most certainly was the only person who could have saved John's sanity once they were back on Atlantis. I loved McKay's whining comments, that are the wit of the story, making it so much more real.

John's fear of being turned in was breath taking. John narrowing his eyes at McKay when he said he had not actually saved John was superb.

Do you write THE MAN FROM U. N. C. L. E. Explore these heroes and their world and give it a try.

Laura-trekkie chapter 7 . 9/20/2009
Yay! It took a bit of time and a few days of pain and fear, but John's back. I loved the final scene in John's room. He and Rodney don't really do the talking thing well, but they have their own shorthand and seem to get the meaning behind the sometimes awkward words. I'm glad Rodney's starting to accept what Carson and John have both said about Rodney's hand in saving John. It may not have been the heroic things John did to save Rodney, but it was just as necessary.

Lovely story as always.
Laura-trekkie chapter 6 . 9/20/2009
Well, I suppose it was too much to ask that they'd get through the town in one piece. Thank god Ronon and Teyla were around when they were needed.

I'm glad John and Rodney are finally home, though it's going to take John a little time to settle. What's wrong with him that's making him so hot? That's all he needs on top of that beating and the problems his amnesia is giving him now that he's back in Atlantis. Hopefully Carson will be able to help with at least some of the problems and John will be able to get his memories back at a more sedate pace.
Laura-trekkie chapter 5 . 9/20/2009
Another tense chapter as they crept through the caves. I'm glad they made it through with only a little hypothermia and a bullet graze. Better yet, they found someone willing to shelter and feed them for the night, one thing less to worry about.

Hopefully John can strike another thing off his list of things to worry about now that Rodney's seen the brand and reassured that the Lanteans, his friends, won't take him back to Jyra when they see the brand. Rodney handled that well, considering it's Rodney ;).
Laura-trekkie chapter 4 . 9/20/2009
It's easy to forget that going home doesn't have the same comfort for John as it does for Rodney at the moment. John's final talk with Hemmin reminded me that he's essentially leaving his home to go into the unknown, even though he's fully aware that this planet isn't really his home. It must still be very strange. It's good to see a few more things coming slowly back, even if it is the simple things so far.

The journey looks like it's going to have some tense moments. Thank heavens they've got the edaaka and that John learnt a lot from the Indanni. But what might they face in the caves? And will they make it through the town without trouble?
Laura-trekkie chapter 3 . 9/20/2009
It's great to see John and Rodney together again, and John remembering the odd thing. I can certainly see why his brain is taking its time to recover- there's a lot of stuff for him to remember and a lot of it is painful in one way or another. I'm glad that simply having Rodney there is helping slowly.

I just hope that leaving tomorrow won't be too soon for John's mind to cope with. Atlantis and all their friends will be terribly overwhelming for John if he's not remembered much by the time they reach the gate. Maybe being on the move will jar things loose.
