Reviews for Oh, For the Wings of a Dove!
Jinxauthor Mel chapter 4 . 11/19/2009
Sigh. Oh well, I guess I can't just love 'em all, and I didn't really click with this one. I'm not sure whether it was just because I wasn't completely immersed in the story, or because it was short and somewhat rushed, but it often felt a little inconsistent. Not so much in details as overall. ~.~

Which isn't to say that I'm not gonna give you some exemplary details. (Wouldn't be me if I didn't, right? ")

For one thing, the people on Atlantis (or really anywhere a Stargate activates from off-world) cannot figure out the origin of an incoming wormhole just by its activation! The only way for them to know who was dialing from where, would be if a Gate team's IDC let them know which team called, ergo from where (they'd been sent), or if the dialer radioed and told them who and where he was, or else if the dialer 'morsed' them by throwing rocks at the shield and hoping someone was clever enough to figure it out. Since Rodney didn't even know where he was, much less the planet's address, that is simply not an option. It would actually make more sense for his team to find him by chance when checking out that next planet on their list, I believe.

As to the procedure; drawing and replacing blood is one thing, but what's with the DNA in the actual body cells? Our bodies don't just consist of blood after all, and neither does blood change the makeup of the rest of our cells. I'm not very happy with that 'machine' at all, well, except maybe for it being so painful. .~

Nearing the end you had Forlix state: "I need to administer painkillers and a sedative. The first time we used the device, we did not know how agonising it was until it was too late."

Yet they'd also done it to themselves, hadn't they? How could they *not* know about the pain? If I didn't misunderstand what he was trying to say, it's either a logical mistake of yours or a bold-faced lie of his.

One good thing I was rather amused by was you having that machine relieve Rodney of the traumatizing scars he'd received during the show and, more to the point, all those you've inflicted on him on the side! *_*

Of course we can't let him remain that unblemished for too long, right? .~ So I'm looking forward to whatever you have in store for him next.
Shadows-of-Realm chapter 4 . 10/12/2009
That was very interesting! Can you imagine Rodney flying away from Wraith?
Shadows-of-Realm chapter 3 . 10/12/2009
What? Not a cliffy!
Shadows-of-Realm chapter 2 . 10/12/2009
Uh oh! You make unusual things happen to Rodney you know?
Shadows-of-Realm chapter 1 . 10/12/2009
Varda, What the hell are you doing to him?
Whirlwind421 chapter 4 . 9/16/2009
That was interesting. Definently different. Good job.

Great fic. Very inventive whump. I liked the call back to the Storm or was it The Eye episode where Rodney was stabbed. I liked that he was able to get some small enjoyment out of what happened and be able to really fly for a bit. I felt sorry for him that no one but Jennifer seemed to give him any sympathy. John was teasing him quite badly. Glad Ronon seemed to be being nice to him as he recovered from being changed back. I figured that machine couldn't last so was curious how you were going to get rid of it. LOL

Thanks for sharing the fic. Very enjoyable.

Yay! Rodney got his arms back! Love how Ronon reach over and plucked a feather...*snickers* So Ronon!

Loved the ending, a bit of McKeller...so sweet!

Thanks for another great story Varda! Looking forward, as ususal, to your next story or chapter! _

Very nice! Glad to see Tarro die after what he did to Rodney. I almost wish he was given his arms back but able to keep the wings too - that would be very cool. This was a very unique take on the wing story idea, I am surprised to see so many stories where Rodney gets wings, but I like your take on it. :)
Tinah chapter 4 . 9/15/2009
Hm. Didn't know you'd posted two more chapters earlier... Anyways, I got to finish the story in one setting, which was nice. I love how you describe Rodney "interacting" with his wings, wrapping them around himself, and their being so soft and comforting! ( I just wanted to pet them... ;) And his interacting with the team and Jennifer. I had expected him to be more panicked about having his arms replaced though. But you mentioned on Gateworld that it was a "crackfick" so I assume that's why you chose to have it more "light"?
RodneyIsGodney chapter 4 . 9/14/2009
Well, I sure am glad you gave Rodney back his arms! Odd little story you got here.

And I'm not even gonna mention the typos I found in this chapter.;-)
deblease chapter 4 . 9/14/2009
Are you crawling under a rock because you gave Rodney a happy ending? Liked the story, will look at birds differently now.
msdarque chapter 4 . 9/14/2009
Kinda of a happy ending, isn't it? :D But then again, this is how it should be, I think.

Great chapter! Suited nicely... to me at least.

Congrats on finishing another interesting story!

Why would you want to hide under a rock? They have slugs! :P

Anyway, yay! Rodney got his arms back! I hoped he would, since the stuff he does relys on his brain and on his hands.

My favourite parts of this chapter were definitely the bits set on Atlantis, with his shame that he had to rely on others, I thought you captured his reaction to that very well, and I felt really sorry for him, not even able to eat himself. For Rodney, that must be torture!

I thought the lego genetics machine was fun too, that would be very cool to have! And I especially liked how you linked that with the scar Koyla gave him, and how he would no longer have to be reminded of his past shame, that was a lovely ending for him - he deserved something like that after everything he's gone through! :D
Blue Shadowdancer chapter 3 . 9/13/2009
Glad that Jennifer was being so sympathetic and understanding, that was sweet :)

So if his bones are now hollowed, how's he going to produce white blood cells? I guess that's an incentive for them to try to fix him as soon as possible!

And I'm not surprised that John managed to talk him into testing his new wings - also not surprised that you managed to injure him during the process! ;) Looking forward to more, whenever you have time to write! :)
