I've been reading this story for the last few days (even if I had to be studying haha), and from the beginning I loved it!
All the pairings, specially DxT. I was so happy to find another story of those two.

This is actually interesting.
To be honest I was fooled. I thought Vergil would be some kind of a rapist. . .I wonder what's going on in there? who are these new people taking over the order?
I like what you did with Kyrie, you are actually giving her a personalty. I could easily imagine her having these thoughts, great job.

I'm aware this is from 2009, so I'll forgive some inconsistencies or differences in interpretation.

Let me just, interesting set up, and I'm impressed that you made Kyrie a character I can see being more diverse and less subject to her terribly generic portrayal in the original game. It's a pleasure to see someone has actually made her a character rather than the cheesy, Kingdom Hearts princess characterization in the original game. I'm interested to see where her persona goes from here.

It's rough, the grammar could use some tightening in certain places. I'm thinking the execution could also use a little facelift in terms of the way Vergil speaks, he's not super rigid like this all the time. There are many moments in the third game where he speaks with contractions, and also exercises a dark sense of humor that feel a little muted in this. The plot is genuine in construction, and the feeling that this is going to go places far and wide does give it a certain allure. I do feel certain things are a little overblown, such as the introduction between characters, though I guess I'm pretty disconnected from the regal style of the older games now.

Now, despite this, the premise I feel helps to overpower these potential flaws. If you can keep 90% of an audience's interest, then you've done your job as a writer. And I'm certainly interested to see where it goes from here, it's a different kind of start than most modern fics. The entire idea is a great throwback to anyone who's forgotten what the classic series used to feel like, and it's a perfect tune up for someone anticipating a return to the old series with the upcoming 'V.'

So, overall, just a lot of fun! Much like your other story I reviewed, this predicated on presenting a story where everyone comes together in a way that's rather harmonious, and believable. I write in my own continuity mostly, so there's a lot I've forgotten about. This brings it all back to the surface, like it was yesterday. Good job!

This story is really great; and here I was thinking I'd already read everything decent in DMC FanFiction! Your characterization is great; this is the best Kyrie I think I've ever read for sure. I find your Dante a little too easily riled, but other than that everyone else is perfect. My only real criticism is that you drag things out a bit too much (the thing with Mercurious lasted like 15 chapters) and you get a bit redundant in your descriptions (you use three words that mean basically the sae thing where one would be sufficient). Other than that though, seriously great and I can't wait for more.

P.S.: I guess you don't know because you mentioned waiting until it was revealed, but it is officially cannon that Nero is Vergil's son. They officially announced it in a panel, and there is the extra cutscenes of Vergil in the DMC4 Special Edition that heavily imply it to boot.

What an interesting A/N. I can't speak for everyone but i personally don't comment on every story i favorite as there isn't always a need to. Of course you could post the usual "This Chapter is Awesome and i love this story so much" shit that you see on almost every story but that's just a waste of time and is basically the same as favoring as all you're saying is you like the story.
Sometimes a chapter has nothing to review/talk about as it could be average or simply another chapter with nothing big to review. I myself only review to ask questions, When something in a chapter caught my eye or if i dislike something in the story. Otherwise it's just wasting words. Reviewing for the sake of reviewing would only fill a the review section with meaningless shit. So as you can see, i disagree with your A/N.

I love, love, love how hot-headed Nero is. I've always found that you write the characters sophisticated and well-spoken, and still get their personalities spot on.

My review got nixed about the website that had the summary of the DMC4 novelization "Deadly Fortune". The website is called Devil's Lair, so you can Google that with "Devil May Cry" to find it in the DMC4 section.

Hope you'll bring out your other fics explaining Nero's origins. You can always have them under the AU setting. :)

Been coming back to this, every once in awhile.

In regards to Nero's origin, one of the producers outright stated that he IS Vergil's son after DMC5 was revealed during E3 2018. It was originally intended to be mentioned in DMC4, but that got cut out of the game, hence arguments over the novelization "Deadly Fortune", which is in Japanese only (and there's no full translation - has a summary of it) and was originally written by the game scenario writer.
