Wow. Just wow.

The further into this story I get, the more I realize I've actually read it before, a long time ago. It's been long enough now that it reads fresh, yet still carries the familiarity of characters previously met. Nice.

Barbara (BabalooBlue) recommended this series to me quite highly earlier today, so I thought I'd try it out. I've never been much for OOC/AU-type stories, as I'm a big believer that canon is there for a a reason, but from what she tells me I'm very much looking forward to this. If this opening chapter is anything to go by, I'm in.

I just want to say how well done this is, in every little detail. The use of Amber as his inner voice was perfect, and totally in keeping with canon (which is another thing I respect-that all the characters keep their "canon" personalities and roles-so hard to do for most fic writers.) House's resistance to treatment is so right and so spot on and so heartbreaking. I love the two OCs you've created-Sarah and Gene. Seems like you've known them a long time-like the house they live in. Fics this well written are few and far between and it's fun to stumble on them-and then know there are lots more waiting. Thanks for writing it.

The jane eyre did it for me! I have a very battered copy of it too. Read it so many time, took it with me everywhere until the pages came apart. My friends used to roll their eyes and poke fun at it. There was a time when they could read a sentence from it and I would recite the rest of the paragraph from memory. So now I feel all connected to Cuddy. Hahaha
Loved the chapter. Loved their dialogue. So heartbreaking.

Powerful yet intriguing end to this first part of your story. House using the sexual objectification in order to be particularly cruel. He's truly terrified at this point.
And yet he still manages to see the truth of the situation, that Sarah's tears are not self-indulgent but that she feels bad for him.

Proves how close Sarah has gotten to the truth. The closer she gets, the bigger and badder the response from House will be. I like the sexual innuendo with, "Gregory House can still come out on top of a beautiful woman." Nice.

Yes. House's knee-jerk reaction to the beginnings of feelings for Sarah and Gene and their kindnesses are hurtful words and deeds. He must push them away to protect himself.

Interesting dream. Like the foundation upon which House has built everything is faulty and broken. If he continues to use it, he will fall through the floor.

I've decided to re-read Tratment, at least the first story, all the way through again. I want to do this before Greg gets his vasectomy in Season of Bittersweet.

This was even better than I imagined and from the first chapter I had high hopes. I couldn't let go until I'd finished. And I know I'm going to head over to the sequels right now. I'm totally hooked!
