Anime100 chapter 5 . 1/1/2017 This is truly very interesting and mysterious to read; please update soon with Hakuba Saguru already involved; will Conan/Shinichi and Hattori Heiji be involved in the circle also? I sure hope so as the three (Kaito, Hakuba and Nakamori-keibu) need all the help that they can get |

manga-otaku-94 chapter 5 . 9/11/2009 Yea! One more installement! Will Aoko ever fin out about Kaito though? |
StargateNerd chapter 5 . 9/11/2009 This was a very good chapter. I really like how Nakamori is kind of like a second father to Kaito. And Hakuba being all 'What the heck, magic?' was so in-character of him. XD Looking forward to the epilogue/sequel. :) |
peppymint chapter 5 . 9/11/2009 I did like it and I am looking forward to the sequel. Sighs, in all honesty, the main reason my full length sequel hasn't been written yet is that I can't figure out a realistic way for the BO to go down. It would so help if Gosho would finally wrap up DC. I will write "On Raven Wings" someday though. I swear it. |
StargateNerd chapter 4 . 9/6/2009 Now I understand why Hakuba was quiet last chapter. He was silently going crazy and figuring out the lecture he was going to give Kaito. XD |
Topazled Hannah chapter 4 . 9/6/2009 Sorry, there aren't any episodes with Kaito's Mom in it. It's never mentioned her name either. Yea, the Kaitou Kid episodes have actually been becoming more frequent, but there is at least one in every set of 100 episodes. You know, I go check the review replies, pull up the "review" option, answer any questions, and then read the fic? XD Anyway, Nice chapter! I didn't really see anything blaringly wrong with this chapter, though something to keep in mind: When you're going through a section and your characters are scared or nervous, use more words associated with "fear" and "nervousness," it lends to the tone and mood of the passage and creates a better flow. For example, "Not knowing what else to do Nakamori grabbed Hakuba and shoved the kid protectively behind him to shield the teen from whatever the youkai was doing." Here, Nakamori is obviously nervous, or at least confused/wary. Using "Not knowing what else to do" lends to a slightly more helpless feel, which is not in Nakamori's personality. Dropping this, or in some cases replacing it with words like "Cautiously" or "nervously" lends more to the mood I think you're trying to create. There's also a typo in that part... "He had see Aakesh's..." It should either be "He had seen." Glad you like my seemingly endless ramblings that somehow equate into advice, and that they make sense to someone other than me. XD ~THk |
WolfDaughter chapter 3 . 9/4/2009 Okay, I'm happy! That was such a fast update! _ Well, now that Kaito's life is no longer on the line there's so much for everyone to deal with. Especially Nakamori and Hakuba. At least Hakuba knew Kid's identity already, even if he couldn't prove it, but he's got to be in shock over the whole wings/youkai thing. Poor Nakamori didn't have a clue to any of it and they still have get Kaito out of there before the other two show back up with the ambulance. Not that that will likely be an issue with Aakesh there and Kaito basically recovered, I'm sure. Alright, I'm rambling...I'm just really looking forward to the next chapter. |
Guest chapter 3 . 9/4/2009 Ah, Aakesh, I kinda forgot that he would be showing up. Well that solves the medical problem and it'll also probably help with Nakamori and Hakuba's ethical problem too. The first way it could help is by being a distraction. If they're busy thinking about the implications of Kaito being related to Youkai then they're not thinking about whether to turn him in or not. After a while of not doing to, the status-quo will be set and they'll have to go against inertia to do something about it. The second way it could help is by muddying up the jurisdiction. After all, modern police are not expected to have to deal with things like youkai so Nakamori would have valid reasons for deciding that he can't handle Kaito through the normal channels. However this might put more pressure on Hakuba to do something. Since he's a freelance detective and not part of the police he might feel obligated to make it his responsibility to try and do something about the situation since the police can't without looking like they're nuts. I really don't know what he could do about Kaito, it's not like he can put him in jail since this whole incident is probably going to be covered up because of Aakesh's appearance, but he might do something like appoint himself Kaito's parole officer (which would also be a good excuse for asking more questions and satisfying his curiosity). However, once the initial shock of youkai and all is over with all three of them (and maybe Aako too) are going to have to try and redefine their relationships in light of this new information (more Kaito being the Kid than the youkai thing). They're going to have to decide if they can still be friends/acquaintences and Nakamori might also feel some kind of parental responsibility to try and mentor Kaito away from the more lawless side of things (especially in view of how hard to catch he would be if he went bad). Also, Kaito still has to deal with his loss of control with Snake so that whole mess of feelings and such is still ahead. On technical matters, I think your dialog and narrative were well done. You might work a little more on defining the main people's characters before they get into the messy relationship stuff so that their reactions will be based on previously-established personality traits as opposed to seeming to come out of thin air. You probably have a good idea of what you want their characters to be like, but you have to establish that with the audience too so that they also understand where the characters are coming from. The writing is good overall and I look forward to seeing what you come up with next. |
