Very strange and surreal but I'm glad I stuck it out to the end. I liked that he rejected Ascension to be with them, to protect them all as long as possible and that he goes on, quietly hiding the knowledge from them.

Absolutely horrifying, intriguing, sad, and fantastic story!

I found myself drawn to it.. excellent writing!

I'd definitely be very interested in a sequel. :D

Emo is good and it was interesting, not weird. I really felt sorry for Rodney, especially when he said that they never came for him. He had to die alone. I thought the fact that he really had died and became an ancient was a very interesting turn of events. I really felt for Rodney throughout this story and then John with his desperation to help him and feeling guilt that he hadn't protected him.

Very well done and written story. Thank you very much for sharing it with us.

Great story. I love how you describe what the team is feeling when they see Rodney's missing eye and then what he himself is feeling. Guilt opposed by warmth. I like the whole 'tree' idea. Very new and fresh. I'm off to see what else you've written!

Oh, I loved this. All the imagery of the tree and him becoming one with it, and all the connections to Odin... it was beautiful, and I really can't say anything to do it justice!

And I really felt for Rodney, with his absolute despair upon the tree, and then with all the knowledge he's gained. It must be a horrendous burden, to know how everyone's finally going to die.

And the whole thing was amazingly well written. I loved it.

*swallows* Holy smokes, that was incredibly creepy and sad. More than once I felt my stomach lurch. Jesus.

The whole; "You never came for me." makes me shiver.

So dark, yet satisfying. Poor Rodney, and poor his team.

But he ascended, that good. Though you could wonder if it would not have been better if he had died completly. I mean, living with that kind of knowledge?

Weird and dark but ultimately satisfying. I like your mind.

Poor Rodney, giving up ascension and knowing everyone's fate but unable to avert/change it.

The part on the tree made me think of "The Summer Tree".
