I really like the way you devote a certain section of writing to each event, giving just enough information that I could imagine what happens. It's interesting that the confessions are marked as inconsiderate and selfish (I've thought that way about my own feelings). I wonder if Doumeki doesn't understand why they're directed at him specifically. In regard to that, he reminds me of Watanuki somewhat, if only that they don't see their own value very well.

Doumeki certainly is very introverted, isn't he?

In regard to keeping them in character, I do believe you've done a wonderful job paralleling behavior, and I like the idea of his grandmother and mother being the way they are here (I've always wondered about the characters' relatives).

Also, nice cultural note about the buttons and neck ribbons! Though I'm ashamed to admit I was unaware of the neck ribbon aspect.

After looking up the name of Watanuki's job, it totally works that he'd be in that position! Thank you for the new word, as well :). You mention in the summary that it's reopened; why did it close?

I wasn't quite sure, though, about the sentence dealing with giving an example of Watanuki being quiet. I take it that Watanuki was still his usual angry self whenever Doumeki even so much as shows up in the room, but was it Doumeki who stepped on the toy?

All in all, though, wonderful story, and thank you for an entertaining read!

I'm amused by the picture you paint of Doumeki's life. Unflappable as always he is. And of course it takes Watanuki and his flailing to disrupt it all XD I'm wondering if Watanuki has his curse in this world or if he's managed to get rid of it.
