I don't remember the exact order because I started reading and had devoured a few dozen historical Hetalia entries before I remembered I needed to go back and review. But, this is definitely one of the stories that started me on this odd little journey that somehow led me into a new fandom. (Yes, I read the fanfics before looking at the series. I'm weird like that.)

At any rate, I adored this. Especially how you handled the concept of Alfred's existence and those moments where people catch glimpses of his true nature as something more than human, as the literal embodiment of everything they're striving for. The way you describe it and build to John Adams' revelation near the finale is beautiful.

This embodied the spirte of America perfectly.

I don't know why but I feel like I just finished and entire novel. This story is awesome

Definitely my favorite Hetalia fanfic of all time. Despite all the hatred America as a country gets and my general disapproval of the government and political spew, the ideas that America was built on (despite all the tribulations and bitter reminder of slavery) does hold to a grand hope for the future.

I started reading this one day before Independence Day, and the ending made me my chest feel a little lighter because sometimes I lose hope in this country when I see how much anti-American sentiment has been spread in recent years.
