I think it's trying to get across Daren's first impressions of Mr Crepsley before he really knows about what he'll have to do as a vampire and still thinks that vampires are killers.

I like it but it seemes to be more a mix of darren and steve, darren was never a killer but steve was never a vampires assistant. W#hat are you trying to say?
