Very good. I like it, even if I do have a bit of a soft spot for Atton. He's pretty cool. But enough of my personal rants, really good story. Nice plot, dialogue, and exectution.

I remember reading your story "Ten" about a year ago, and some of the great things that stood out to me then do the same for me here. I think you do a very good job of getting the characters' voices down. In this case, I think Canderous is not only sounding like he should, but his personality is shining through in a circumstance that would seemingly otherwise be OOC. But I think you were able to make it work by nailing him flat; you didn't seem alter his character or personality much.

The voice of the Exile stands out, too. It seemed a bit emo to me, but that's probably by design, seeing as how the genre is "Angst." As I was reading, the first reaction I had was that the writer was writing from experience. Obviously I don't know if that is true, but there seemed to be a certain authenticity to what the Exile said and how her feelings were voiced.

Finally the pacing of the story is excellent. It moves smoothly and quickly. Although a very different mood compared to "Ten," this story is still noticeably quick-hitting despite a decent length. I think this is due in large part to how good and smooth both your dialogue-which is basically the entire story-and overall narrative style are. You do a very fine job integrating exposition and dialogue, which creates for great flow throughout. I like the story, and I must say, it's nice to see Canderous counsel a female protagonist without bedding her in the end. :)

Glad to see one of my favorite authors is back. (Also the person responsible for me Bao-Dur/Exile otp) Now to stop the fangirling and comment.

I liked this. It's a different take on the Atton/Exile relationship, one not everyone's going to like. But good none the less. Not everyone gets a happy ending.

That being said Canderous and the Exile are spot on. While we didn't get to see the downward spiral, the pain of an emotionally draining relationship is clear. It's almost self-abuse in the cycle you've mentioned here. We all know it's Canderous who would give her the talking to she needs. the man does not mince words. Nice, short, and to the point. Nice fic.
