Billie the fourth sage chapter 2 . 6/24/2011 So lovely. Happy endings are terribly hard to come by with these two. |
DiscordantHarmony chapter 1 . 8/20/2010 Your story is wonderful! I kid you not, I finished Les Mis and almost immediately jumped on ffn to see what people had done with it. This was great! ummm...stop reading here if you don't want to pay attention to my "mini nazi moment". "He was not another sheep in the herd." -Cows and horses are herds. Sheep are flocks. Sorry. End anal dictionary nazi moment. ;-D I still love your story, though! |
DiscordantHarmony chapter 2 . 7/19/2010 "I was going to persecute the wrong man on purpose," Persecute –verb (used with object), -cut·ed, -cut·ing. 1. to pursue with harassing or oppressive treatment, esp. because of religion, race, or beliefs; harass persistently. 2. to annoy or trouble persistently. Prosecute –verb (used with object) 1. Law . a. to institute legal proceedings against (a person). b. to seek to enforce or obtain by legal process. c. to conduct criminal proceedings in court against. Just so you're aware. :) |
AmZ chapter 2 . 8/14/2009 }}Javert felt something brush against his leg and saw that it was Valjean’s. This was the point when I burst out laughing. I know this was probably unintentional, but Christ was it funny. |
AmZ chapter 1 . 7/28/2009 Actually, if you read the book carefully, Javert is either asexual or homosexual. The only mention of him having anything like sexual feelings is a phrase which in French is a pun: "He rejoiced when he apprehended his man." (As in, caught whichever criminal he was chasing at the moment." To "rejoice" in French (jouisser) is colloquially the same as "to orgasm." I doubt this is an accident. So it doesn't actually take that much of a leap to read Javert as a homosexual, repressed or not. Valjean, on the other hand, is pretty clearly a repressed hetero. Or at least the only semblance of sexuality he exhibits is oriented at Cosette. But it could be that he simply becomes attracted to whoever he's in love with, so it's unclear whether this might not extend to Javert as well, given an opportunity. |
Sianco chapter 1 . 7/27/2009 Wow... This is very good! I love the idea of an imaginary conversation. |
Yukaido chapter 1 . 7/27/2009 I think it is very interesting so far. Yes, there are a few discrepancies I can point out, but I understand that you haven't read the book yet, so all is forgiven. :) My first J/JVJ story I ever wrote was musical based too, but even then I was yet to see the musical on stage; I had only heard the music from the Original Broadway recording my mom owned. I really enjoyed the imaginary conversation between Valjean and Javert, it made me smile at how sweet it was. The only thing I have to complain about is Javert's thinking his punishment was unfair. Javert, to me, just doesn't seem like the kind of man that would complain about something that happened as a result of his duty. But besides that, nice job! |
