You... have never been in a school musical, have you? It is not possible to properly sing with a legitimate corset on, it constricts your breathing too much. Furthermore, corsets are expensive. I own one double sided one that was $200. Even schools with excellent drama budgets do not have the money to spend $100 - $200 just on corsets for one play. Costume makers generally use bodices rather than corsets, and for a school production you're generally gonna use whatever you already have stockpiled in the costumes room before buying or making anything. That being said, this fic is pretty well written for the sort of fic it is. As a theatre minor, inaccuracies like that tend to just... bug me... is all. XD
