daydreambuff chapter 1 . 11/16/2011
I like this story. Your style of writing is very enjoyable and the little sidenotes with definitions and whatnot are entertaining. But what is it about being a Venturi that immediately makes a character the least sympathetic of the two? I mean poor Derek. And that's not because I'm a heterosexual female, but because the level of control freak that is happening here sounds awful. I guess they really were on uneven ground from the beginning. And the lack of hockey sounds awful. And I wish there was another chapter. So anyway, good story.

What has two thumbs (up) and loves this story? - This gal!

So funny and entertaining...and even though you've pulled a Freaky Friday on them, still so very much in character.

Very, very well done.

of self chapter 1 . 8/26/2009
This was hilarious and there are so many awesome lines in here that by c&p -ing them I just might put in the whole story in here. What I especially like are definition. The best I think was the western showdown. And I really like Derek's names for all of Casey's friends. Casey like this is kinda terrifying and I feel for Derek. Being a Dawson clone is so not awesome, cause you know, Pacey was just the better dude anyways.

And this I just had to quote. Because it was made of so much win and encapsulated Derek in a single sentence. - Side note four: Being popular had not been this hard at St. Victoire’s, as everybody knew that Derek McDonald was Artsty without being a Pansy, Smart without being a Keener, and Attractive without being Gay. Keeping that precious balance was like elementary school mathematics compared to dealing with Casey Venturi.)-

Great job. :) Maybe there will be more of this?
Phoenix Satori chapter 1 . 8/4/2009
I'm so happy you decided to take up this challenge, too!

And I'm so sad it took me so long to realize this was here!

MEANWHILE.

I love that Casey's mind is such a(n insanely) meticulously organized filing cabinet. Reading this was sort of like going through an Encyclopedia Britannica entry of Derek's First Day at JSThompson. You know, if the EB had a sense of humor and enough sense to cover such staggeringly historical events.

In this same vein, the ‘definition theatre’ was fantastic. Loved the educational examples (hilarious), loved the snark-ass descriptions, and positively *loved* the formatting, how these little breaks augmented the scenes to which they were attached and made this read like (truly wonderful) reference material.

‘slackerus prolificus, reaches full mental maturity at 2 years’ -Oh, Ralph. Melts my heart every time. _ I think it’s cute that even in this parallel universe, Derek pays Ralph to impersonate him –except it’s obviously thirty-seven times as hysterical, since Casey and Ralph already know each other. (No matter what universe it is, however, Ralph is Ralph is Ralph, always-always.) Brilliant.

‘“Derek McDonald,” he says, and flashes the grin (Cary Grant, Notorious)’ –WIN.

‘“Holy hell, what is that?” (And he bolts.)’ –This is one of those Epic Moments, which was simply TOO EPIC to be included in the actual show. Derek in Panic Mode is my absolute favorite.

Bahahaha -Sam and Max, unwitting accessories to Casey’s Scheming! Glorious! It was so painfully clear that the Inherent Guys within them were so horribly uncomfortable with setting up one of their own.

And Derek’s nicknames for everyone? Priceless. (‘The Stoner’ -*snicker*)

I mentioned this to Liz, but it’s really great to see how much home-court advantage has to do with who has the upper hand in Casey and Derek’s power struggle. Even if, at heart, they are still faithfully themselves, being immersed in a Brand New World where Casey’s already familiar with all the ins-and-outs of everyone’s routine inevitably makes it more difficult for Derek to adjust. Awesome.

The little strings of hinted history are enormously enticing, too, and oh-how-I-WISH there’d be more of this. Lizzie and Nora, notorious health nuts, Casey-and-Sam (once upon a time), Venturis weak against fatty chips, Truman and Derek –best buds? Beautiful. I’ll take this tiny taste if that’s all I’m to be given, but this is *fabulous* and if you ever wanted to…oh…write many, many more chapters of this, I would be remiss to hold it against you.
LindsaylovesPacey chapter 1 . 7/29/2009
This was really cute! I especially love the "Dawson's Creek" references! I loved that show, as you can tell. And PACEY was my fave from the beginning. Dawson was always so self-centered and whiney...

unoriginal-elizabeth chapter 1 . 7/26/2009
Yay! I'm so thrilled you took this on - the prompt is awesome, isn't it? Your take on it is likewise awesome, and the only thing that strikes me as wrong is the fact that it's marked as complete :) I'd love to see more of it - but then, I'm greedy like that! I love Casey Venturi's alternate history - complete with boyfriend Max, best friend Emily (and the little details like having her friend-versary marked on her calendar are lovely), student council minion Sheldon...awesome. And Derek's also carefully constructed alternate history - where he is (of course!) the perfect blend of artsy, smart and attractive for St. Victoire's - is smile-inducing. As is the whole story, really :)

(Oh - I loved the fact that in this universe, Derek still tries to pass off Ralph as himself - so funny!)
