I just watched the movie and its just amazing! Just like everyone else has probably already said I gotta just say how amazing Christopher Walken is! His performance in this movie is flawless and Nick was my favorite character. You did a really good job writing this fic!

Wow. Just wow. I watched the Deer Hunter for the first time recently and to say the least I was blown away by it. This is an impressive account of Nick's last thoughts, very alike to his character, despite having lost it a bit by now. That scene quite possibly shattered my heart, it was just so unexpected! I perfect rendition, brilliant. Superb. If I compliment you any more I may start repeateing myself, so I'll stop.

I read The Deerhunter yesterday and I wasn't all that thrilled. But yout piece rocks! I like it more then the book, thank you for writhing it, there aren't many storys about Deerhunter or Platoon or any other 'Nam Movie

Whoa...

I just bought this movie yesterday after it completely blew me away (no pun intended) on Encore. I was surprised it would have any fanfic at all, but I also knew that any story about THE DEER HUNTER would have to be incredible.

This...was. It was such a beautiful glance into Nicky's mind, and a refreshing take on his last scene (especially since we see it completely from Michael's point of view). The overwhelming tragedy of this fic is so in-tune with the nature of the movie, and the fact that we already know Michael's thoughts during this scene make it more gut-wrenching to realize that Nicky doesn't realize who he is.

Anyway, a great story. Now on my favorites.

*stares in complete awe at the computer* wow...I've never seen the movie, but I've heard from other walken fans...like myself, that it is emotionly shattering. How heartbreaking! I love mr. walken's work, though, and I agree...he is so adorable, not spooky!

Simply awesome. It was excessively cool to find a Deer Hunter fic, and it was an added bonus that it'd be so well written. Very in character, very poignant, very visceral. Thanks for writing it.
For the record, my favorite scene in DH is the first Russian Roulette scene where De Niro convinces the Gouks to put three bullets in the gun and Walken is crying and then De Niro screams this primordial scream as he pulls the trigger. That had to be one of the most intense things I've ever seen.

This perfectly captures Christopher Walken's character Nicky. I thought that he and De Niro had the best scenes. Watching Bravo gave me a new experience when I saw this movie.

Hey there. I just barely read u're fanfic about "The Deer Hunter" on . Unfortunatly, I know u made this fic a while back and I'm sorry I didn't find it sooner. I am also a big Walken fan and saw a lot of his movies. I think u're fic is very well written and I want to know if you have written any others.

A very poignant glimpse into the most powerful moment in the movie.

De Niro and Walken rocked that film, and this final scene was so mind-blowing and shattering that it was very difficult to watch.

I really liked Nicky's voice here. I could definitely hear it in my mind, could replay that confused-yet-irritated look on his face and have it fit the words.

The drifting recognition at the end was heart-breaking. Very good job.
