Guest chapter 56 . 8/27 what if u made a dirge of cerberus fanfic with an oc, hardly see any of those stories, and more shelke and shalua moments (like maybe your oc is paid by shalua to help find her long lost little sister). or a fic where vincent or cloud and tifa take shelke in and adopts her. just a thought as well plz consider. |

Micah Rodney chapter 1 . 3/10/2019 M.J. Gallagher is rapidly becoming a household name amongst the Final Fantasy VII fan community. Author of The Unofficial Final Fantasy VII Novelization, The Nibelheim Incident, and his own original novel Axtelera Ray: The Chronicles of Astrone, it is safe to say he has left his mark as a writer. With his work being presented by KupoCon, a new flock of readers have been discovering the joy of Gallagher’s fanfiction, myself included. Having completed the first book “A New Threat”, I thought it was only fair to give the work a thorough review. First and foremost, Gallagher shows extraordinary attention to detail. Purists will delight as Gallagher does not seem to miss a beat; he includes even the tiniest of details from the Compilation that are relevant. Every chapter he would find ways to tie these elements into his main narrative, without ever detracting from the pacing of the story. Some authors can struggle to do this without info-dumping, but Gallagher displays a skilled hand at weaving these threads together. His mindful nature extends to his prose as well, as he crafts lovingly-constructed paragraphs that beautifully paint the city of Midgar in the mind’s eye. You can truly reach into his world and touch it. His skills with world-building are also exemplary, as nothing ever feels out-of-place. We, the reader, are treated to a tour of the dismal streets of the slums, learning the ropes as we go. This work could stand almost as an encyclopedia of the state of Midgar and its downtrodden citizens. With the dedication to realism and proper pacing, there are a few changes that were required for the sake of the story as a whole. This is an understandable part of the process, and each is expertly handled. Gallagher makes a point of utilizing as much of the removed scenes as possible in a more appropriate way, so you will never truly feel like you are missing out. Gallagher’s characterization is strong, even with him leaning heavily upon the original works. He adds a unique personal touch to almost every character, giving them a dash of himself as he does so. In particular, his treatment of Barret and Red XIII stand out to me. You will find all the heroes and villains that you grew up with represented at their best in this work, and with the addition of the Compilation, you may learn to appreciate them even more. M.J. Gallagher has come as close to a perfect retelling of Final Fantasy VII as there has ever been. The project stands as the definitive fan work of Final Fantasy VII and is a work that will please both the obsessive purist and the casual fan alike. I cannot recommend this work enough, particularly to those who are new to Final Fantasy VII, or those who may not be able to play the original game. If you have been on the fence about this work, let me assure you that the time to start reading is now. AVALANCHE’s adventures are just beginning. |
Kat Aclysm chapter 10 . 7/24/2018 This is amazing work. I've seen many unofficial novelizations of FFVII but this is easily one of the best ones out there. Good job! |
Denebola Leo chapter 54 . 3/3/2018 Annette! I was wondering when she would make an appearance. |
Guest chapter 6 . 1/23/2018 Great work |
SummonerStrife chapter 51 . 2/21/2017 Great chapter! Lots of interesting background info here... Makes me wonder how far they'll delve into this stuff in the Remake. I found it very interesting that you mentioned VII's possible connection to X (Farplane, pyreflies, etc). I thought this was a fan theory of sorts, or is it actually confirmed canon now? Cool idea either way. I'm curious to see Cloud's relationship with both Aerith and Tifa really begin to develop as well, and I can't wait to see Cloud's mental state begin to break down... There's so much to see! Looking forward to each new chapter! |
Kakashii Anbu chapter 1 . 1/2/2017 Hey I'm curious. How do you plan on working out cloud and tifa's relation or if you had already what is it like? I know that in the game there were choices you can make to show Tifa/aerith more attention, how did you go about that, or is there no romance and you adapted the story with strictly fantasy etc.? |
SummonerStrife chapter 50 . 1/2/2017 Another great chapter! You did a good job describing how Spirit Energy and Materia work, much better than the original translation in the game did. I also appreciated Yuffie's laughter when everybody else was in shocked silence and horror; it just felt appropriate to her character. Can't wait to read the next chapter! |
SummonerStrife chapter 49 . 10/19/2016 I'm in love with this novelization! Wonderful, exceptional - just like I'm replaying the game in book form. I'm so glad that you're continuing with your work, and beyond excited for the next chapter! Can't wait for the next update! From, a fan :-) |
Yadda Wadda BaddaBoom chapter 1 . 9/18/2016 Well, I'm finally getting around to reading this and am very excited! Also saw your post on Facebook and amvery happy to be able to experience reading your insight on such an iconic and beloved game! (I'm an almost 20 yr fan myself, even getting my car detailed in FFVII artwork!) Thanks for sharing your creativity, here I go now. Time to read more. ;) Debi Ann Yadda |
eagle219406 chapter 47 . 7/2/2016 Just finished up to this point. From your description, i'm guessing that Rio is "Moogle Girl. " |
eagle219406 chapter 45 . 7/1/2016 I just made it to this chapter. It was awesome. A little added Sephiroth scene. But a few things bugged me. One thing, Yuffie was riding in the buggy and was totally fine. Did you forget about her motion sickness, or just disregard it? Also, does anything ever happen during the day? Because it seems every scene you have is either at night, or close to sunset. |
