Ouch. You really picked up on the self-hatred here, in a good way, it seems so genuine and sad. Your writing style continues to inspire. :)

I went into this fic thinking "V's life's work, huh? Must be him pondering something about his vendetta...I wonder..." So I clicked.

After reading this fic, I see V in this whole new light. Pity perhaps, but not because I want to. No one, real or fictional, should ever have to go through what he went through. And through that, you've captured V in every essence. Remorseful, regretful, but headstrong to the very end. Obviously thinks of himself of a monster -

"No. There was nothing there. She would not remember him, and she would never love him."

Which is obviously untrue, but still heartbreaking to say the least. You've taken that and written a sorrowful fic, but still hopeful, because we all know that things change for the better (although not much better) in the end.

In short, I very much enjoyed this. I'm so glad that someone can portray V as accurately as you do.
