I totally agree with you. It's not often that a writer takes the time necessary to research the culture of which they write. You definitely have my respect not only as a fellow writer/reader but as an American woman as well. I'm looking forward to more.

You could say the medical schools in Japan right now are indirectly pressuring women to become housewives by that entrance score discrimination.
On the whole though, Japan isn't that bad in terms of gender discrimination. North American sexism isn't even comparable to stone age sexism, though.

Well, some women are pressured into marriage by their parents, and in the recent scandal, more universities are discriminating against women too.

In any case, though, I think it is better to choose only one of the two; a career or a family. It's not good to have both, because they'd fall out of balance. Especially since Japan is such a workaholic society.
And it's not like it's any sort of "horrific" thing to become a housewife. It's actually pretty comfy, especially in the modern day. The only bad thing is if you're stuck with a bad or unloving husband. Only in that case would it really be bad to be just a housewife.

Even so, this discrimination taking part in Universities is definitely unfair. Especially since these women want to have and presumably have made the decision to focus their lives around their jobs and not families.

Actually, most Japanese women choose to become housewives on their own, they aren't forced into it. Being able to fight and having an adventurous personality doesn't mean a person wouldn't be willing to settle down and start a family. Only a few of them are actually pressured into it (and usually not even by others or their parents, but by their own worries and fears).
This all is true, despite what the American propoganda might tell you.

I must say this is the thing which I am looking for, the best fanfic that I have ever read , I just don't know why akira toriyama never considered chichi more than a housewife she is a very good FIGHTER! always ready to take any risk, well we can't do anything about it I always get dissapointed in him whenever I see chichi in the original anime, but I finally met someone who can fix this mistake and that is YOU! This is amazing. You put so much thought into this and I consider this fic better than canon. Chichi is so amazing and I always thought that she would have been more involved in the fighting if the author hadn't put her into housewife role. Also love that Launch is involved and ALL the earthlings are badass in their own ways. Teamwork is also awesome :D The goku/chichi moments are very cute too! Thank you! This is amazing to read
