a wonderful story, as always. i think i've mentioned it before, but i like how you can write it in such a detached manner, when in essence it's so emotional and deep. (like hell you understand what i'm saying...)

This was gorgeuos. Just...gorgeous. Zack and Aerith were wonderfully in-character, and the few snippets of Cloud's grief were hauntingly realistic. Leaving out the names was a nice touch, too, even if everyone knows who they are. And Zack's one line of "Shh, shh, it's not okay, it's not, I know that. But it will be." is just...I can't even describe it. It just fits so perfectly.

And that final line...! 'And just like that, your final moments are over, and you're gone in all the ways that count except one.' That was just so sad, so beautifully sad, and such a perfect closer.

Now, I'm going to go read all your other stuff.

Stunning, absolutely stunning and breathtaking. I was tearing up throughout the entire story and had not been for my annoying brother behind me, I would have cried. This is such a beautiful re-imagining of one of the most iconic FF scenes. I've never thought about Zack being there during Aerith's death, but wow, this totally blows what we were given in FF7 out of the waters.

This is one-shot story-telling at its finest. You captured every possible emotion so well, it made me tear up. I especially liked the fact that you didn't name anyone. I mean, it's obvious who is who for anyone who knows the game and events, but the fact that no names were said just made it more heart-wrenching because you're forced to constantly think about the characters and put their names and faces to the emotions and events yourself without even realizing it. Whether you did that on purpose or not, it was an amazing effect. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for posting that!

Perfect. There's no words to adequately describe how wonderful this fic is, but I'll try. It's so poignant and haunting and I loved how disconnected everything was as she was 'leaving' the real world.

And the ending is just amazing, so so so beautiful and perfect and the presence of Zack was heartbreaking but hopeful. I adored his comforting her through the entire thing, and his line "I'm here. Shh, shh, it's not okay, it's not, I know that. But it will be." was just perfect. Adored them watching Cloud's grief, how hard it must be for them to watch their friend spend the next few years suffering.

Okay, wow. This is the only fanfiction that has ever caused me to shed some tears whilst reading it, something I never thought would happen.

I think it's because there's so much sadness in this piece. I'm not sure what was more heart-breaking. Zack comforting Aerith or them both seeing Cloud break-down :(
