This is adorable

I feel like this story had every chance to be really kitschy and out of character, but you kept it so simple and so straightforward that it ended up just being genuinely sweet and very believable. I love it! Great job, and I'm impressed at how natural it feels!

That was absolutely adorable, and it was really in character! I love how Roy and Ed shared a moment at the train station without saying anything-that's typical of them and their relationship. This was a really sweet story. Thanks so much for writing and sharing it!

Curious, Roy picked it up and slowly pulled off the lid. Moving the tissue paper away, Roy saw that it was a neatly folded cravat. Roy wore them all the time when he was off duty, hell he was wearing one now, but he usually wore black ones. This one was the brightest, most garish color of red Roy had ever seen. He didn't even know they made such abominations.

Stuffed on the side of the cravat was a small, folded piece of paper. Pulling it out, Roy read the short note quickly.

You should wear more red cause red is badass. Happy Father's Day. – Ed

Roy read and reread the note several times, then looked back at the cravat in curiosity and a little bit of wonder. Ed had given him a Father's Day gift? But... why? And yet, despite it not making sense, despite the loud color of the cravat, despite the fact that he wouldn't want to be caught dead in something so ugly... he was touched.

Putting the lid back on the box, Roy slipped it in the pocket of his jacket and started for the door with a small smile on his face that he didn't even know was there.

This was great. Also, thanks for teaching me a new word. "Cravat" - I had no idea that's what those things were called. Ha! I didn't even know they had a name.

this is too freakin cute I died

Awwwwwwwww. Roy even came to see him off at the station! While wearing the tie! I was expecting this to be super cheesy, and while it was a bit (in the best way), this story ended up being very sweet and genuine.

Every time i read this story, my crops are watered and my pores are cleared. It's so pure and good, and it reminds me that there is good in this world.
