Interesting. Since I have not yet watched the movie, I have no sympathy for the new Kirk. I think it should be hard for him to just take over! I think he should have, once he gets by his own over inflated Ego and thinks about it, wanted it to be Hard to take Spock’s Place...otherwise, good Luck to Him in the Future counting on the crew’s loyalty!

... Well shit. *dies laughing* Those are the best three last lines I've read in a very long time. As a whole, the story is good, insight into the characters, the universe of the movie, and a fair bit of dry wit. But the last three lines? Genius.

I like that this is in third person. It works really well, letting Kirk's voice come through clearly but without the awkward wow-I'm-holding-a-long-monologue thing that can happen when a whole story is in first person. Kirk's voice is spot on, by the way - reading this made me feel like I understood the movie better.

Also, I love the part that describes Uhura's reaction: "Then it’s Uhura’s turn, and hoo boy, is that an ugly look on her face. The sheer disgust evident might’ve hurt a little less if...yeah, Jim can’t imagine that look hurting much less, unless he really was the asshole that expression suggests that he is. Which would be some asshole." It's funny and understated and clever, especially the last sentence. And the same for the final line of the story.

Best...movie...ever, well, besides Transformers, anyways not the point! I liked it, very Jim Kirk-y (if that makes sense?)I liked how you weaved the scene with his thoughts, as well as with his reactions to each of the others. Yeah, about all I have to say, you have written in forever (again, hypocriteme, my page is still blank due to my laziness to put up the fanfics I wrote, eh, a year ago?)

Oh, and I liked the ending, Well, shit...nice :)

You captured Kirk's uncertainty very well. I wondered how Sulu knew Kirk was first officer, then remembered on second viewing, he was there! Nicely done!

I love how you captured Jim in this fic! It was an incredibly stressful situation, and you conveyed his tumultuous feelings very well. Thank you for posting this.

Oh this is wonderful! I love how you portray his feelings, because, in that scene, he does look like an asshole, and it is cool to see how he feels about what he just did. Excellent work.
