CornflowerDollz123 chapter 1 . 4/21/2010 I love this story! Moody is gruff, honest and tough - even though there is no physical action, I love how you can tell that he's tough. I also adored the way you talked about previous cadets, this would be exactly the way I expect Moody would thin about them. I actually disagree (with no offense intended whatsoever to them!)with the reviewers who have said that there are too many adjectives- I think that they add to the seemless 'flowing' of the story (if that makes sense) So, yea- keep it up, because I think this story is incredible. |
Rayless Night chapter 1 . 10/22/2009 I like Moody here, gruff, to the point, but there's nothing grudging about his approval. Tonks is also nicely written - she's cheery, but her work ethic and determination are what's really played up in this fic, and I think it works well. Good length for the story, it's not dragged out, but there's enough room for the scene and the mood to develop. I like the details - the silence being "rich", the knocks usually coming in pairs. Excellent grammar too. Crits: Ease up some on the adverbs. For example - "The answer was relatively satisfying..." The sentence sounds a bit clunky because of the two adverbs (relatively, totally) being so close. "leaving to do who knows what" - this is debatable, but the present tense was a bit jarring to me. Maybe "who knew what" instead? Anyway, great job. |
Blue Leah chapter 1 . 6/25/2009 I think you got Moody down pat. Good one-shot. I enjoyed reading it. |
Mede chapter 1 . 6/17/2009 Not bad. Seems pretty serious for Tonks, but then again, it's a pretty serious future she's seeing the possibility of. So, nice to know she can do that. :) It occurs to me the setting isn't actually specified, so I guess I'll assume they're at the Ministry (considering how booby-trapped Moody's house was in canon). Setting doesn't really seem important here, but if you consider it in the future it might make for some more interesting depth to your scenes-characters can fiddle with objects lying around, lean on furniture, etc. Body language and facial expressions can emphasize or contradict the words they're actually saying. I don't mean to lecture though-for a oneshot this is pretty good, much better written than some other fics I've read. :) So, nice job, and I think you can improve a lot in the future. |
