Alibi Nonsense chapter 3 . 1/15 I am absolutely HERE for Vimes putting his foot in the door where it 'doesn't belong', upsetting everything and making the world a better place. Mr Slant squirming is cake icing and the fact the gentlemen landlords of the city have yet to hear of this and will make a stink is a cherry and sprinkles on top, oh yes, thank you VERY much A.A. Pessimal. I am here for this. |
Guest chapter 15 . 10/5/2019 Freaking amazballs! I suspect the author stole TP’s brain leading to his Alzheimer’s. What black magik is this. |
rhidragon chapter 14 . 4/8/2019 I'm really hoping you come back to this story soon. Must remember not to read in bed when other half is asleep. Cos waking him up with laughing makes him grumpy. |
The Lady of Fiction chapter 15 . 2/6/2019 Love to see this contined |
Awed chapter 15 . 6/19/2018 Really great. You'd think that TP were still writing. A shame it's unfinished |
Magi Tail Welkin chapter 10 . 11/6/2017 I was hoping for at least a mention, like Tomjon, of Imp y Celyn for the Musician's Guild and Susan Sto Helit for the Teacher's Guild. Oh well. |
Guest chapter 15 . 5/1/2017 This is an AMAZING fanfic, thank you so much for making it puvlic. I can't wait to read the rest :) |
andymtomlinson chapter 13 . 4/25/2017 Absolutely brilliant. I've enjoyed all of this 'book?'', but this chapter excels. :-) |
Rockrat chapter 4 . 3/7/2017 Love note 3. Such a trueism. |
Anne Onymus chapter 2 . 11/14/2015 "You're always so much more alive and vital when you kick bottom" - I so much love Sam&Sybil. Irresistible Force - Immovable Object. (Seems I'm not so much commenting now as just pointing out bits I like. Hope you don't mind.) "Young Sam gurgled happily; this had a diplomatically leavening effect." As I was a-walking the library hallways / I saw the SF shelves between P and S had no Discworld except Snuff which is bad 'cause I want to read the Vimes books in order and meet Young Sam / singing too-ra-li, etc. "And how many daughters do you have, Miss Maccalariat?" Okay, this reminded me of last chapter's info - all the boys are Pessimals and all the girls are Maccalariats AND THEY ALL MARRY EACH OTHER. I . . . didn't get the full impact/implications of this till now. *leaves briefly to vomit* Epibatidine . . . there aren't enough fanfiction authors that know sciencey stuff. (No, I'm not one of the few. This was awesome.) "I'll be watching what you do. You know, for hints." *reads this* *is improved in mood* The phrase "well-aimed baby". Just . . . that phrase. "More than that, it's criminal." Is it so, or is Vimes just planning to make it so? "*Force* them, yes." I can hear the satisfaction . . . |
Anne Onymus chapter 1 . 11/14/2015 "Disgusting disorganized sprawling great heaps of paper [...]" This made me decide I could conceivably like this Miss Maccalariat (I don't know if she's an OC or not, as I haven't read the Moist von Lipwig books and I've only read Vimes's up to Jingo). People who can string together precise rapid-fire commaless derogatory adjectives like that has my approval. WHOA. The ENTIRE Watch obeys her that easily? I'm . . . not sure now. Wait. Running into the streets to interrupt a raid to discuss paperwork . . . she's so crazy I'm not gonna hate her. (Why do ladies with undisobeyable voices keep *happening* to Vimes?) Fluorine? I'd thought the word was spelled flourine, but I could have been wrong. I was confused on how to spell the word "necessary" for years until I started pronouncing it neKESSary. "Excersice" is still confusing (or "excercise" or whatever the fleece it is). A.A., A.B., A.C., and A.D. Oh my gash . . . So she chose A.B. but she's still really soft on A.E. Now I'm interested in backstory . . . and it's only a SLIGHTLY morbid interest. "Nobby sidles on the spot." Of COURSE he can do that. Of COURSE he can. "in a funny sort of way he's worth it." J-just wanted to quote this. The ending. This is all just genius, okay? |
Guest chapter 1 . 11/2/2015 It's lovely to see the charectors still have a life after Mr. Pratchett's death and this goes a long way towards my enjoyment of the chapters. However, it is a series of small scenarios which do not quite make a whole. Depth is missing, for instance the raid is mentioned but glossed over. I wonder if in trying to get down your story it becomes a bit two dimensional. |
marmota-b chapter 13 . 10/18/2015 I burst out laughing at the smuggling a car out one piece at a time one; it's the one I know from a Czech rendition, you see. Country in its natural language can have a degree of dignity to it, especially if performed by Johnny Cash, think what you will (after all, he was a performer who avoided the outward trappings of the genre you've described here). Translated into Czech, all the ridiculous bits of it often get emphasised at the expense of the more promising elements, often not helped by rather bad translations. (I've heard it said a translation can either be beautiful, or faithful, but not both at once. When it comes to songs, both at once is definitely a tall order, achieved by very few, and some achieve the low order of being neither.) When you export some of the outward trappings, too... (thankfully, I don't recall any Czech country singers having gone the glittery route) ... well, I guess from a British standpoint, it can be equally misguided. |
marmota-b chapter 8 . 10/17/2015 Question: What's haberdashery got to do with mercury? |
mqmiq3 chapter 1 . 9/14/2015 Good job. The language and pacing were perfect. I have trouble reviewing stories I really like because I get lost in them, bravo. Finish that sucker up, A. A., you got a winer! Miq Strawn |
