I think the first time I read this was in middle school, around 12 years old. Graduating high school has made me sentimental and this story just popped up into my head. It’s six years later, and this holds true as one of the most well-written, well-developed, and engaging stories I’ve read on the platform. I loved the consistency with the style of the Maximum Ride series then and I’m brought back to a time when I poured over those books now. I just wanted to thank you for being one of the things that helps me get through quarantine life.

Why is it your author notes that are making me cry!? Stop being so freaking sweet, I can’t cry in English class

1. Just all of the screen (book?) time you give the rest of the flock. It’s beautiful seeing various hilarious situations play out and relationships form. (I freaking love Iggy and you wrote him spot on.) I consider this work more canon then half the books so yea, no least favorite part.

2 It’s hard to choose because of all the fantastic scenes but the Halloween costume scene and especially when Fang accidentally kissed Iggy on New Years Eve made me snicker so loudly my parents made me go to my room to read.

Hi wow the first time I read this I was in 8th grade and I fell in love with it and now I’m a senior in college rereading it again. It’s funny how many parts of this I read differently now but how many parts I still read the same. I still laugh at the bacon jokes and the EBW and the twilight references and your A/N. The whole part in this chapter about max asking fang if he thinks all his references will be out of place and him saying that it’s all about helping people remember this era...wow it’s so fucking true. I’m reading it now and it takes me back to simpler happier times in 8th grade and I feel so utterly nostalgic. At the same time I’m so happy to be where I am today and idk I’m just really grateful for this story. It shaped me greatly when I was 14 and reading it now when I’m 22, I feel like I remember my roots and where I came from a lot better and I’m inspired to pay my respects to 14 year old me and make her proud. Thanks and I hope life is treating you well 3
