I did not see this bonus chapter before I read the Conclusion. Hephaestion has been badly wounded during his brave act to save Alexander from being killed during the battle. His recovery will be slow and painful, but he has good helpers and Alexander is often at his side. You give us real vivid descriptions of the pain and hurt from the serious wound, also the treatment and operation. I can feel Hephastion's pain and discomfort, also Alexander's caring and worrying.

What a lovely Conclusion to this novel length story. You left us with quite a cliffhanger in last chapter, many thanks for this update. I am happy to see that Hephaestion will recover from his wound. Alexander takes good care of him and as always, I like H/C sequences. The imagery of the big and splendid city of Babylon appearing before their eyes is enticing. Yes, Fate moves in mysterious ways and now it has brought Alexander and Hephaestion together for many more great campaigns and adventures.

My apologies for late R&R.

Here you leave us with quite a cliffhanger. Hephaestion is unused to serious fighting, but he is very brave and he pays a high prize for this courage. The battle scenes are exciting and detailed. Vivid and moving imagery with him taking the arrow intended for Alexander. Their relationship is complicated, they have been arguing very seriously before the battle.

First And Foremost, I Was Blow Away! Was not excepting what to happen. Great Work!

1.) Alexander should have known better than to try and keep Hephaistion from fighting. If Alexander wanted Hephaistion to not fight, he should have at least sat down and talk to him like a man.

2.) Alexander pulled the passive aggressive move. Yes Hephaistion was mad and if the shoe was on the other foot Alexander would be the same way.

He shocked himself in being silence swallowing the next sentence. Alexander didn't even flinch at the harshness of the words, instead he just gathered the rest of his armor.

“I think I shall find a more agreeable person to finish this." he said before leaving.

3.) I feel so sorry for the poor servants. I would not want to be caught between those two.

Hephaistion arrived in his tent to find his armour missing, turning on his heels back outside he found one of Alexander's own servants passing.

“Where is it?" he demanded stepping in front and starling the man.

“Where is what my lord?" asked the servant.

“My armour, it's missing!"

“Alexander asked for it to be removed."

"Did he, then go and bring it back, Now."

“But sir, the king...”

Hephaistion grabbed him by the upper arm pulling him closer saying each words slowly as he squeezed the flesh so that it hurt “GO - and - fetch- it NOW."

4.) I loved this little exchange. It really showed you what was going on between Alexander & Hephaistion.

Alexander turned to look him as did the other companions Hephaistion simply nodded at them oblivious to the look of mild annoyance on Alexander's face at being disobeyed.

5.) NO. Hephaistion has to be okay. I wasn’t expecting this ending.

Hephaistion ran towards Alexander pushing aside friend and foe but his progress was slow. He arrived at Alexander's side ruby tackling him to the ground just as the archer let go of his bow string and sent the arrow flying. He was helped up by Alexander who was smiling with gratitude, then suddenly all the colour went from his face, his eyes widen and his mouth dropped up and closing as if he wanted to say something but words failed him. And with a trembling hand he pointed, He put his hand to where Alexander was pointing and felt something. His fingers came away blood red, his vision began to tunnel as he looked down and saw the arrow that had been for Alexander had pieced his armour into the soft flesh underneath. He took one last look at Alexander before sinking to his knees and blackness.

I think this might have been one of my favorite chapters so far. Again I feel so bad for taking so long to review.

1.) Its really amazing too see how much Hephaistion has grown since he’s been with Alexander.

2.) Being a General really suites Hephaistion.

3.) I like that Hephaistion hasn’t let his new found powers go to his head.

4.) Can’t wait to see how Alexander & Hephaistion deal with the Persian King.

Another Great Chapter!

1.) Such a true sigh they are together now. Hephaistion wasn’t worried about what could have happened to him. He knew that he was safe. I liked that.

Now free Hephaistion stood up retrieved his robe from the floor and going over to the wash basin, there was some water left in the jug beside it. Picking it up he dumped the contents on top of the sleeping Pharaoh causing him to wake with a start and sit bolt upright pushing his hair out of his face looking for the culprit. Hephaistion couldn't help but flinch when those dark angry filled eyes found him holding the jug.

2.) To me the guards didn’t do a really good job looking for Alexander; how about checking camp completely before we send out search parties.

3.) Wonder what happened between Alexander & Ptolemy? Wish I could have been a fly on the wall.

4.) Alexander & Hephaistion are acting like they’ve been together all their lives.

I’m so sorry it has taken me so long to review the last few chapters. Life & Work have been crazy lately.

1.) Those two have been dancing around each other for awhile now. I believe his sure.

"Are you sure."

2.) These two are just hot together. And you can always feel the love between them.

3.) Like that would ever happen.

Alexander opened his eyes and sat up straighter his face all serious.

" Tell me you aren't regretting this." he let him go as if he had been stung.

"NO, " it came out a shout then calmer " No, of course not."

4.) I’m happy they finally got it on.
