This fits. Reasonable that Edward would hold on to the negative feelings for being the cause of her 'death'. Good thing in canon, he had to to save her life and in most fan fic. Windchymes says is really well in chapter 21 of Blood Lines: Bella is dying of brain hemorrhage. She says she is glad it happened so that there is no little corner of Edward's mind that can harbor any guilt or selfishness feelings.
Thanks for sharing the look at a possible way it could have happened. Glad he was able to work it out and realize what he had.

that was great I loved it and Edward needed that wake up call I think it saved his life as well as his marriage and also helped another couple to do the same. THANK YOU

what difference does it make how she changed and it was gong to happen anyway and I am guessing this way was not all that painful she did nnot seem to be in pain.
